Line 2 (Bilbao Metro)
Line 2 of the Bilbao metro is a rapid transit line in Biscay, Basque Country, Spain. It runs from Basauri to Kabiezes. Its route covers the municipalities of Basauri and Etxebarri, the city of Bilbao and the left bank of the Nervión river. The line has 25 stations. History The first phase of the line opened on 13 April 2002, with five stations; Gurutzeta/Cruces, Ansio, Barakaldo, Bagatza and Urbinaga. Line 2 joins line 1 at San Ignazio, and from that station both lines continue along the same route to Etxebarri (when line 2 opened the southern terminus for both lines was Bolueta). On 8 January 2005, two stations were added: Sestao to the north and Etxebarri to the south (Etxebarri also serves as the southern terminus for line 1). Urbinaga (Bilbao Metro)
Urbinaga is a station on Line 2 (Bilbao metro), line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Simondrogas, in the municipality of Sestao, next to the Sestao water treatment plant and in proximity to the Estadio Lasesarre, Lasesarre football stadium. Portugalete (Bilbao Metro)
Portugalete is a station on line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in central Portugalete. Opening on 20 January 2007, it acted as the northern terminus of the line until the line was extended to Santurtzi. There is a station on the Cercanías Bilbao commuter railway network with the same name, but the two stations are not connected. Sestao is a station on line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in central Sestao, in close proximity to the city hall and the Santa María church. It opened on 8 January 2005 and it acted as northern terminus for line 2 until the opening of the Portugalete extension in 2007. Bolueta (Bilbao Metro)
Bolueta is a station on lines 1 and 2 of the Bilbao metro. The station is located in the neighborhood of the same name, in the district of Begoña. It opened on 5 July 1997. Until 2019 it was also served by suburban Euskotren Trena trains coming from Durango, Bermeo and San Sebastián. Between 2017 and 2019, these lines were diverted through line 3 of the metro, completely bypassing Bolueta. In 2022, the Bilbao tram reached Bolueta along the disused railway corridor. Station layout Bolueta is an elevated station, with two platforms located above a main entry hall. The station can be accessed from Otxarkoaga and Ibarsusi streets. Etxebarri (Bilbao Metro)
Etxebarri is a station on lines 1 and 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is the southern terminus of line 1. The station is located in the municipality of Etxebarri, part of the Bilbao metropolitan area. It was opened in 2005. The station is on Fuenlabrada street, next to a park and ride parking facility. The Euskotren Trena commuter railway network has a station with the same name at a distance of about , but the two stations are not connected. Services The station is served by the line 1 to Ibarbengoa and Plentzia, and also by line 2 from Basauri to Santurtzi. Connecting bus services are provided by EtxebarriBus, a local bus service managed by the Etxebarri municiaplity. San Ignazio (until 2017, ''San Inazio'') is a station on lines 1 and 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the San Ignazio-Elorrieta neighbourhood, part of the Deusto district. The station is in close proximity to the San Ignazio Sports Center and the Elorrieta football field. It was opened on 11 November 1995. Station layout San Ignazio is the only one of the underground stations in the metro to have three tracks and an island platform. The station is bigger due to it being the last of the shared section between lines 1 and 2 northbound, with each line splitting into a different tunnel after the station. Ansio is a station on line 2 of the Bilbao metro. It is located in the neighborhood of Arteagabeitia-Zuazu, in the municipality of Barakaldo. The station is located next to the main entrance to the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC). The main Customer Attention Offices for line 2 are also located in this station. It opened on 13 April 2002. The station is located in near proximity to the University Hospital of Gurutzeta (also known as ''Hospital de Cruces'' in Spanish), the largest public healthcare facility in the Basque Country.
