Lindfield Rugby Club
The Lindfield Rugby Club is an Australian rugby union football club in Sydney. The club's home ground is in the suburb of East Lindfield. Lindfield competes in the NSWSRU competition. The Lindfield Juniors Rugby club is also one of the largest for junior players in Australia. History The Lindfield Rugby Club was founded in 1919 by soldiers returning from the first world war. The club played in local rugby competitions before being admitted to the Metropolitan Sub-Districts Rugby Union in 1948 and winning the minor premiership in that year. Lindfield remained in first division for most of the next five decades, being relegated once for the 1987 season before returning to the top level for another eight seasons until 1995. The club then spent most of the next twenty years in lower divisions, aside from two seasons in first division for 2009 and 2010. East Lindfield, New South Wales
East Lindfield is a suburb on the Upper North Shore (Sydney), Upper North Shore of Sydney in the state of New South Wales, Australia. East Lindfield is located 13 kilometres north-west of the Sydney Central Business District in the Local government in Australia, local government area of Ku-ring-gai Council. The New South Wales Suburban Rugby Union, or NSWSRU, is affiliated to the New South Wales Rugby Union and runs the competition affectionately known as "Subbies" rugby. There are around 7500 players and 55 clubs competing across 6 divisions, making "Subbies" the largest centrally administered rugby competition in the world. NSWSRU is truly the grassroots of rugby in Sydney. The major trophy in "Subbies" is the Kentwell Cup that is awarded to the first grade premiers of the first division competition. The NSWSRU selects representative sides to compete against New South Wales Country for the Maher-Ross Cup, and Queensland Suburban for the Barraclough Shield. The Australia national rugby union team, nicknamed the Wallabies, is the representative national team in the sport of rugby union for the nation of Australia. The team first played at Sydney in 1899, winning their first test match against the touring British Isles team. Stirling Austin Mortlock AM (born 20 May, 1977) is a former Australian professional rugby union player. He has scored more than 1,000 points in Super Rugby, and nearly 500 test points for the Wallabies. Mortlock is a former Wallaby, Melbourne Rebels and Brumbies captain. Andrew Thomas Blades (born 4 June 1967), was a rugby union player for Australia from 1992 to 1999. Andrew was first chosen for the Wallabies match 22 in 1992 against the All Blacks but did not get on the field. Later that year he toured with the Wallabies to South Africa and the United Kingdom playing in non-test matches. His first Test Cap was not achieved until 1996 against Scotland. Cameron Blades (born 16 April 1971) is an Australian international former rugby union player who played at the loosehead prop position, but could also cover at tighthead prop and hooker. He played professionally for New South Wales Waratahs and Glasgow Warriors. Career Blades was born in Sydney.
