Cameron Blades
Cameron Blades (born 16 April 1971) is an Australian international former rugby union player who played at the loosehead prop position, but could also cover at tighthead prop and hooker. He played professionally for New South Wales Waratahs and Glasgow Warriors. Career Blades was born in Sydney. He had one full international cap for Australia against England in Sydney on 12 July 1997. Australia won the match 25 - 6. He also played for the Australian Under 21s. His brother Andrew Blades also played for Australia and was a member of the 1999 Rugby World Cup winning team. He was signed for Glasgow Warriors in 2001 by coach Richie Dixon and entered the UK because of his Irish passport, leaving the New South Wales Waratahs. This meant he could play in the Heineken Cup as a non-foreigner. While not playing for Warriors, he played for Glasgow Hawks. Richie Dixon
Richie Dixon (born c. 1947) is a former rugby union footballer, the former head coach of the Scotland national team, the Georgia national team and Glasgow Caledonians (now known as Glasgow Warriors). He was head of Physical Education at Currie High School in Edinburgh from 1972 until 1980. Playing career Amateur career Born in Chirnside, Berwickshire, Dixon played for Jordanhill. Provincial career As a rugby player he was to captain Glasgow District; the side that was later to become the Glasgow Warriors on professionalism. He started off playing on the Wing or Centre for Glasgow. Later in his career, he made the switch to Flanker and represented Glasgow there too. Super Rugby is a men's professional rugby union club competition involving teams from Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. It previously included teams from Argentina, Japan, and South Africa. Building on various Southern Hemisphere competitions dating back to the South Pacific Championship in 1986, with teams from a number of southern nations, the Super Rugby started as the Super 12 in the 1996 season with 12 teams from 3 countries: Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The Junior Wallabies is the national under-20 team that represents Australia playing rugby union. The team has been competing at the annual World Rugby U20 Championship since it began in 2008, replacing the previously held under-19 and under-21 championships. The team also competes at the Oceania U20 Championship as of 2015. Australia's highest finish at the World Rugby Under 20 Championship was as runner-up in 2010 and 2019. The Shute Shield is a semi-professional rugby union competition in Sydney, Australia. It is the premier club competition in New South Wales. The Shute Shield is awarded to the winning team from the Sydney premiership grand final held at the end of the club rugby season. History Club-based rugby football began some time before 1865. Glasgow Hawks is an amateur rugby union team in Glasgow, Scotland. They were Premiership Division One champions for three consecutive seasons from 2003–04 to 2005–06. History In Paris on 27 August 1995 a meeting of the International Rugby Board declared that professionalism was to be allowed in rugby.
