Lincoln Goodale
Lincoln Goodale (February 25, 1782–1868) was the first doctor to live in Columbus, Ohio, United States. He was a great benefactor to the city and his legacy includes a large parcel of land that today is known as Goodale Park. His likeness in the form of a large bronze bust watches over the park. Biography Lincoln Goodale was born on February 25, 1782, in Worcester, Massachusetts and was a member of the first landing party in Marietta, Ohio. As a child, his father Major Nathan Goodale was killed by Native Americans during a ransom attempt and he was raised by his mother. He later received medical training from Dr. Leonard Jewett. He volunteered for the War of 1812, and served as an assistant surgeon in General Duncan MacArthur's regiment. During the war, he was held at Fort Malden in Canada. Columbus City Council
The Columbus City Council is the lawmaking body of Columbus, Ohio. It has 7 members who are elected at-large. It meets in the City Council Chambers located on the second floor of Columbus City Hall. Starting in the 2023 election, City Council will expand to 9 members and be elected by district in a primary election and then at large in the November general election. Park Hotel (Columbus, Ohio)
The Park Hotel was a hotel in Columbus, Ohio. It was later in its history known successively as the Northern Hotel, the Railway Y.M.C.A., and as the Goodale Hotel. The building stood at the northwest corner of North High Street (Columbus, Ohio), High Street and Goodale Street. The hotel's oldest section was constructed in 1853 for Capital University, and served the school for about 20 years. Around 1876, a new section was built for the new Park Hotel. A hotel or Y.M.C.A. operated in the building until 1958, when it was demolished for the Goodale Expressway (Interstate 670 (Ohio), Interstate 670).
