Light Records
Light Records is a gospel record label founded in 1966 by Ralph Carmichael, as a joint venture with the Waco, Texas-based Word Records. It is a subsidiary of the MNRK Music Group. History Light Records' first roster included Ralph Carmichael, the Carmichael Young People, Ralph Carmichael's 102 Strings recordings, and Ralph's daughter Kim (Carol) Carmichael. Other artists included Jimmy Durante and Thurl Ravenscroft (the voice of Tony the Tiger in cereal commercials). Light moved into Gospel music quickly, with the 1968 signing of future Grammy-winners Andrae Crouch & the Disciples and ''The Oral Roberts Singers'', featuring Richard Roberts (evangelist) who had a hit with their opening theme ''Something Good Is Going to Happen to You'' and closing theme ''A God of Miracles'' for ''The Oral Roberts Hour''. MNRK Music Group
MNRK Music Group (pronounced "monarch", formerly known as Koch Records and eOne Music) is a New York City-based independent record label and music management company. It was formed in 2009 from the music assets of Koch Entertainment, which had been acquired by the present-day Entertainment One (eOne) in 2005. In April 2021, after the acquisition of eOne by Hasbro, the company announced that it would sell eOne Music to The Blackstone Group. It owns the libraries of Artemis Records, Dualtone Records, and Last Gang Records. History eOne as a whole has its origins in the music distributor Records on Wheels, which was acquired by the Canadian retail chain CD Plus in 2001 to expand its wholesale business. The Winans are an American gospel quartet from Detroit, Michigan consisting of brothers Marvin, Carvin, Michael and Ronald Winans. Compendia Music Group was an American record label and distributor that operated in the early 2000s. Compendia was formed in late 2001 by Marty Tudor from the assets of the bankrupt label Platinum Entertainment. It was based in Nashville, Tennessee, and distributed music from the label's own artists as well as acting as a distributor for music from other labels. Platinum Entertainment
Platinum Entertainment was an American record label that operated in the 1990s. The company was founded by Steve Devick in 1991, who reorganized his River North Studios recording studio into a record label. The company initially sold primarily gospel music, but diversified into other genres, primarily by signing older but still active acts instead of developing new artists. In 1994, Platinum acquired Diadem, a label active in the Christian music industry, and purchased Intersound Records in 1996. By 1997, the company's revenue was estimated to be $130 million annually. However, by the turn of the century Platinum had begun to lose money—its first quarter financial report in 2000 showed that the company had lost $3.9 million in the quarter and had just $3,000 in cash. The company closed its distribution subsidiary in June, but was nevertheless forced to declare bankruptcy in July, with liabilities of $52.1 million against assets of $15.7 million. Carmelo Domenic Licciardello (January 19, 1956 – February 16, 2021), known by his stage name Carman, was an American contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, television host and evangelist. He was nominated for four Grammys, and sold over 10 million records. Carman's album '' Mission 3:16'' (1998) peaked at number 94 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. Jamie Owens-Collins (born 1955), born Jamie Sue Owens, is an American Contemporary Christian music composer, singer and songwriter. She is the child of Jimmy and Carol Owens and was born and raised in Oakland, California, where her parents wrote and staged Christian musicals. Reba Rambo (born October 17, 1951) is an American Christian singer and songwriter. She is a Grammy and Dove Award winner. Biography 1965–1975: Early life and career beginnings Rambo attended Hebron Elementary School in Hebron, Ohio and graduated from Dawson Springs High School in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. Sweet Comfort Band
Sweet Comfort Band was an American Christian rock band that first performed in 1973 in Riverside, California, and were active until 1984. The band was initially composed of keyboardist/lead vocalist, Bryan Duncan, and brothers Kevin (bass guitar) and Rick (drums/vocals) Thomson. The band was the brainchild of the Thomson brothers. Randy Thomas, guitarist/vocalist joined the group around 1976. After their second album, Sweet Comfort Band also became well known for their highly detailed, airbrushed album cover art by Kerne Erickson, a trend that had previously been considered too costly for Christian groups who did not produce the high-volume album sales of mainstream bands such as Kansas.
