Liga Dei Veneti
Mariangelo Foggiato (Possagno, 19 April 1954) is a Venetist politician. Having joined Liga Veneta–Lega Nord, he was elected to the Regional Council of Veneto in 1995. However, he left the party in 1998, when he founded Liga Veneta Repubblica (LVR) along with Fabrizio Comencini. He was national president of LVR until 1999, when he left the party, together with Senator Antonio Serena, founding the Liga dei Veneti, in dissent on the alliance with Forza Italia prospected by Fabrizio Comencini, LVR national secretary. Foggiato then abandoned politics until 2004, when returned to political activity as member of North-East Project (PNE), of which he was a founder (along with Giorgio Panto) and secretary. He was elected again to the Regional Council in 2005. The new party performed well in the Province of Treviso, where it won 15.6% of the vote. After Panto's death, he became the leader of the party. Possagno
Possagno is a comune in the Province of Treviso, in the Italian region Veneto. It is located about northwest of Venice and about northwest of Treviso. As of 31 August 2021, it had a population of 2,191 and an area of .All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat. Possagno borders the following municipalities: Alano di Piave, Castelcucco, Cavaso del Tomba, Paderno del Grappa. Antonio Canova (1757-1822), the great neoclassical sculptor was born in Possagno. He chose to erect the Tempio Canoviano in the city, a structure he designed, financed, and partly-built himself. The temple has become one of the city's landmarks with the museum of the Gipsoteca Canoviana dedicated to the sculptor and built around his birthplace, which houses various sketches and plaster casts of his famous works as well as many of his paintings. North-East Union
The North-East Union (''Unione Nord-Est'') was a Venetist political party active in Veneto. The party was formed in 1996 by splinters from Liga Veneta–Lega Nord led by Adriano Bertaso, a regional councillor. In the 1996 general election the party won 2.0% of the vote for the Chamber of Deputies, by running only in the Verona–Padua–Vicenza–Rovigo constituency (3.4%), and 2.6% for the Senate. In 1999 Bertaso led the Union into the Liga Veneta Repubblica (LVR) of Fabrizio Comencini, but soon after left it and re-organized his party, which is currently a minor political force in Veneto. Venetian nationalism (also Venetism, from the Venetian/Italian name, ''venetismo'') is a nationalist, but primarily regionalist, political movement active mostly in Veneto, Italy, as well as in other parts of the former Republic of Venice. Generally speaking, Venetists promote the distinct Venetian identity and the rediscovery of the Republic of Venice's heritage, traditions, culture, and language and/or demand more autonomy or even independence for Veneto from Italy. 2015 Venetian Regional Election
The Venetian regional election of 2015 took place in Veneto on 31 May 2015, as part of a big round of regional elections in Italy. Venetian voters elected their President and their Regional Council, whose members had been reduced to 51, including the President. Luca Zaia, incumbent President (elected in 2010 with 60.2% of the vote) and leading member of the Northern League (LN), was re-elected by a reduced majority, due to a split occurred within his party in the run-up of the election, but, despite this, his victory over Alessandra Moretti of the Democratic Party (PD), who fared quite badly, was still a landslide: 50.1% to 22.7%. The election was a personal triumph for Zaia, who was the most voted President among the seven elected on 31 May.
