Independence We Veneto ( it, Indipendenza Noi Veneto, INV) was a Venetist and separatist political party based in Veneto, Italy. INV, which was represented in the Regional Council of Veneto by Antonio Guadagnini from June 2015 to March 2016, is part of the larger coalition led by Liga Veneta– Lega Nord and supports Luca Zaia's second government. History Independent Venetians Independent Venetians ( it, Veneti Indipendenti) emerged in February 2014 as a split from Venetian Independence (IV), the most established separatist party in Veneto at the time. After an internal struggle and a congress, during which his role of president was cancelled from the party's constitution, Luca Azzano Cantarutti had left the party in January, after a power struggle with Alessio Morosin. Luca Azzano Cantarutti
Luca Azzano Cantarutti (born 18 December 1963 in Pordenone) is a Venetian independentist, Venetist politician and lawyer. In the early 1990s Azzano Cantarutti joined Liga Veneta– Lega Nord in the province of Rovigo. At the 1994 general election he was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies in the single-seat constituency of Adria. In July 1995 he left the party and joined the parliamentary group of Federalists and Liberal Democrats (FLD), being a member of the Federalist Italian League (LIF). Finally, in December of that year he switched to the Christian Democratic Centre (CCD) along with other LIF MPs. At the 1996 election he was the only member of LIF to stand for re-election under the party's banner, but got just 2.8% of the vote in his single-seat constituency of Adria. Mariangelo Foggiato
Mariangelo Foggiato (Possagno, 19 April 1954) is a Venetist politician. Having joined Liga Veneta–Lega Nord, he was elected to the Regional Council of Veneto in 1995. However, he left the party in 1998, when he founded Liga Veneta Repubblica (LVR) along with Fabrizio Comencini. He was national president of LVR until 1999, when he left the party, together with Senator Antonio Serena, founding the Liga dei Veneti, in dissent on the alliance with Forza Italia prospected by Fabrizio Comencini, LVR national secretary. Foggiato then abandoned politics until 2004, when returned to political activity as member of North-East Project (PNE), of which he was a founder (along with Giorgio Panto) and secretary. North-East Project ( it, Progetto NordEst, PNE) is a Venetist, fiscal federalist and libertarian Italian political party based in Veneto, demanding larger autonomy, if not complete independence for the region. History The party was founded in June 2004 by Giorgio Panto, along with former members of the Liga Veneta– Lega Nord (LV–LN) and former members of Liga Fronte Veneto, notably Mariangelo Foggiato and Ettore Beggiato. 2015 Venetian Regional Election
The Venetian regional election of 2015 took place in Veneto on 31 May 2015, as part of a big round of regional elections in Italy. Venetian voters elected their President and their Regional Council, whose members had been reduced to 51, including the President. Luca Zaia, incumbent President (elected in 2010 with 60.2% of the vote) and leading member of the Northern League (LN), was re-elected by a reduced majority, due to a split occurred within his party in the run-up of the election, but, despite this, his victory over Alessandra Moretti of the Democratic Party (PD), who fared quite badly, was still a landslide: 50.1% to 22.7%. The election was a personal triumph for Zaia, who was the most voted President among the seven elected on 31 May.
