Li Wei The Magistrate
''Li Wei the Magistrate'', also known as ''Li Wei Becomes an Official'', is a 2001 Chinese television historical comedy-drama starring Xu Zheng as a young Li Wei, an illiterate county magistrate who would become one of the most prominent officials during 18th-century Qing dynasty. A great commercial success, the series was followed by a 2004 sequel ''Li Wei the Magistrate II'', also starring Xu, and a 2005 sequel ''Li Wei Resigns from Office'', starring Paul Chun as an older Li. The trilogy takes place during the reigns of the Kangxi Emperor, Yongzheng Emperor, and Qianlong Emperor respectively. Production and broadcasts The drama is usually considered the sidequel of the 1997 epic TV series ''Yongzheng Dynasty'', returning most of its main cast in their iconic roles. Xu Zheng (born 18 April 1972) is a Chinese actor and director best known for acting in comedic roles. Xu directed, co-wrote, co-produced and starred in ''Lost in Thailand'' (2012) and ''Lost in Hong Kong'' (2015), two of the highest-grossing films in China. He also co-produced and starred in ''Dying to Survive'' (2018). Xu found fame with the wacky TV series '' Sunny Piggy'' (2000), co-starring his future wife Tao Hong. Nian Gengyao
Nian Gengyao (1679 – January 13, 1726), courtesy name Lianggong, was a Chinese military commander of the Qing dynasty. He was born a member of the Han Chinese Bordered Yellow Banner and had extensive military experience on the western frontier of the Qing Empire. Nian became commander-in-chief of the Qing armies in the northwest; and helped to incorporate the region of what is now Qinghai into the Qing Empire. Yinxiang, Prince Yi
Yinxiang (16 November 1686 – 18 June 1730), formally known as Prince Yi, was a Manchu prince of the Qing dynasty. The thirteenth son of the Kangxi Emperor, Yinxiang was a major ally of his brother Yinzhen (that is, the Yongzheng Emperor) during the latter's struggle for the succession of the throne. He was made a ''qinwang'' (first-grade prince) during Yongzheng's reign and became one of his closest advisors. He died eight years into the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor and was memorialized with top honours by the emperor. When he died, his title was granted "iron-cap" status and became perpetually inheritable, one of the only twelve such princes in Qing dynasty history. Yunsi
Yunsi (29 March 1680 – 5 October 1726), born as Yinsi, was a Manchu prince of the Qing dynasty in China. The eighth son of the Kangxi Emperor, Yunsi was a pivotal figure in the power struggle over the succession to his father's throne. Yunsi was believed to be favoured by most officials in the imperial court to be the next emperor but ultimately lost the struggle to his fourth brother Yinzhen, who became the Yongzheng Emperor. After the Yongzheng Emperor ascended the throne in 1723, Yunsi was named a top advisor to the new emperor and imperial chancellor, the head of the ''Lifan Yuan'', in addition to being awarded the title "Prince Lian of the First Rank". Yinreng
Yunreng (6 June 1674 – 27 January 1725), born Yinreng, was a Manchu prince of the Qing dynasty. He was the second among the Kangxi Emperor's sons to survive into adulthood and was designated as Crown Prince for two terms between 1675 and 1712 before being deposed.
