Leone Cimpellin
Leone Cimpellin (6 June 1926 – 27 March 2017) was an Italian comic artist. He was sometimes credited under the pen name Ghilbert. Life and career Born in Rovigo, Cimpellin spent his childhood in Milan and at very young age he started his career as assistant of Lina Buffolente, with whom in 1942 he created his first comic strip, ''Petto di Pollo'', published by Edizioni Alpe.Maurice Horn; Luciano Secchi. Rovigo
Rovigo (, ; egl, Ruig) is a city and ''comune'' in the Veneto region of Northeast Italy, the capital of the eponymous province. Geography Rovigo stands on the low ground known as Polesine, by rail southwest of Venice and south-southwest of Padua, and on the Adigetto Canal. Pecos Bill (comics)
''Pecos Bill'' is an Italian comic book series created by Guido Martina and Raffaele Paparella. The name is a reference to American folklore character Pecos Bill. Background In 1949 the publisher Mondadori commissioned Guido Martina and Raffaele Paparella the creation of a new realistic comic series, inspired by the legendary hero of the West, to alternate with the Disney stories in the series ''Albi D'Oro'' ("''Golden Albums''"). Lambiek
Galerie Lambiek is a Dutch comic book store and art gallery in Amsterdam, founded on November 8, 1968 by Kees Kousemaker (, – Bussum, ), though since 2007, his son Boris Kousemaker is the current owner. From 1968 to 2015, it was located in the Kerkstraat, but in November 2015, the store moved to the Koningsstraat 27. As of 2018, Lambiek is the oldest comics store in Europe, and the oldest worldwide still in existence. The name "Lambiek" originated as a misspelling of the name of the comics character Lambik, from the popular Suske & Wiske comic book series created by Belgian artist Willy Vandersteen. Jonny Logan is an Italian humorous comic book series, created in 1971 by Romano Garofalo as writer and by Leone Cimpellin (under the pen name "Ghilbert") as artist and was published monthly by Edizioni Dardo. Background The comic series, similar in its structure to '' Alan Ford'', featured a Milanese crackpot team of bounty hunters grappling with topical problems of the Italy of the time, such as terrorism, mafia infiltration in politics, abrogative referendum about divorce, taxes, internal emigration. The comics achieved a large commercial success, with a circulation of over 100,000 copies per month and a number of fan clubs all over Italy. The series was also published in France, Greece and Jugoslavia. The ''Corriere dei Piccoli'' (Italian for "Courier of the Little Ones"), later nicknamed ''Corrierino'' ("Little Courier"), was a weekly magazine for children published in Italy from 1908 to 1995. It was the first Italian periodical to make a regular feature of publishing comic strips. Publication history ''Corriere dei Piccoli'' was established in 1908. The first issue (24 pages, 80,000 copies) was published on 27 December 1908, with Silvio Spaventa Filippi as editor-in-chief. It was founded by Luigi Albertini. Guido Martina (9 February 1906 – 6 May 1991) was an Italian comic writer, documentarist and author. Martina is well known for his Disney comics stories, including the first of the "" story "L'inferno di Topolino", and the creation of Paperinik, Donald Duck's superhero alter ego. Gian Luigi Bonelli
Giovanni Luigi Bonelli (22 December 1908 – 12 January 2001) was an Italian comic book author and publisher, best remembered as the co-creator of ''Tex Willer'' in 1948, together with artist Aurelio Galleppini. Career Bonelli was born in Milan. He founded Casa Audace Editrice, later to be known as Sergio Bonelli Editore, in 1940. In 1948 he created ''Occhio Cupo'' and ''Tex Willer'' (both drawn by Galleppini). ''Tex Willer'' is among the most popular characters of Italian comics, with translations to numerous languages all around the world. Mario Uggeri (17 February 1924 – 8 March 2004) was an Italian comic artist, illustrator and painter.
