Gian Luigi Bonelli
Giovanni Luigi Bonelli (22 December 1908 – 12 January 2001) was an Italian comic book author and publisher, best remembered as the co-creator of ''Tex Willer'' in 1948, together with artist Aurelio Galleppini. Career Bonelli was born in Milan. He founded Casa Audace Editrice, later to be known as Sergio Bonelli Editore, in 1940. In 1948 he created ''Occhio Cupo'' and ''Tex Willer'' (both drawn by Galleppini). ''Tex Willer'' is among the most popular characters of Italian comics, with translations to numerous languages all around the world. He wrote several early episodes of '' Zagor'' (issues #6–10, 13–14). Bonelli remained to supervise the production of Tex until his death in Alessandria. Alessandria (; pms, Lissandria ) is a city and ''comune'' in Piedmont, Italy, and the capital of the Province of Alessandria. Sergio Bonelli Editore (formerly CEPIM and other names) is a publishing house of Italian comics founded in 1940 by Gian Luigi Bonelli (1908–2001). It takes its name from its former president, comic book writer Sergio Bonelli (1932–2011), son of Gian Luigi. The company popularized the comic book format that became known as ''Bonelliano''. These comic books presented complete stories in 98 black-and-white pages in a pocket book format. The subject matter was always adventure, whether Western, horror, mystery, or science fiction. The ''bonelliani'' are to date the most popular form of comics in Italy. The company was founded as Casa Audace Editrice in 1940. Tex Willer is the main fictional character of the Italian comics series ''Tex'', created by writer Gian Luigi Bonelli and illustrator Aurelio Galleppini, and first published in Italy on 30 September 1948. Sergio Bonelli
Sergio Bonelli (2 December 1932 – 26 September 2011) was an Italian comic book writer and publisher. He is best known as creator of '' Zagor'' (1961) and '' Mister No'' (1975), as well as a comics publisher through the publishing house Sergio Bonelli Editore. He was born in Milan, the son of Gian Luigi Bonelli, the creator of ''Tex Willer'' and many other Italian comic strips. In order to distinguish himself from his father, he usually wrote his scripts under the pen name Guido Nolitta. He made his debut as a scriptwriter in 1957, with the translation into Italian of the Spanish series '' Verdugo Ranch'', for which he wrote the final episode (artwork by Franco Bignotti). Aurelio Galleppini
Aurelio Galleppini (28 August 1917 – 10 March 1994), better known with his nickname Galep, was an Italian comics artist and illustrator, best known as graphic creator of ''Tex Willer'' in 1948. Biography Galleppini was born at Casale di Pari. In 1948 Gallepini created '' Occhio Cupo'' and ''Tex Willer'' (both written by Gian Luigi Bonelli). Galep drew Tex Willer's adventures from 1948 until his death. Many other illustrators alternated with him on the pages of this popular comic book. He also illustrated all the covers of the regular series from the issue 1# in 1948 until issue #400 in 1994. Zagor is an Italian comic book created by editor and writer Sergio Bonelli (pseudonym Guido Nolitta) and artist Gallieno Ferri. Zagor was first published In Italy by Sergio Bonelli Editore in 1961. Character Zagor's real name is Patrick Wilding, the son of Mike and Betty. He is a western-tarzanesque character living in a fictional forest named Darkwood, located in Pennsylvania, north eastern United States.
