Leonard Jackson
Leonard Jackson (8 April 1848 – 21 March 1887) was an English cricketer who played for Derbyshire from 1877 to 1882. Jackson was born at Holme Hurst in Norton Woodseats, on the border of Yorkshire and Derbyshire. He first played cricket professionally in 1869, for the Breckfield Club in Liverpool. He then went to live in Sheffield where he was a metal-grinder and was playing at Wakefield in 1872 and 1873. In 1874 he appeared for Grimsby against an All England XI and then started playing for Hull Town Club. In 1875, he appeared in a first-class North of England/South of England fixture which took place at the Hull ground, as a last-minute replacement for McIntyre. He later moved to Hull where he was landlord of the Land of Green Ginger Hotel. Later he took Crown and Cushion Hotel. Norton Woodseats
Woodseats is a district of Sheffield, South Yorkshire in the Graves Park ward. Historically, Norton Woodseats () was a village that straddled Derbyshire Lane running from Four Lane Ends to Bolehill (now part of Graves Park), originally in Derbyshire but since 1901, part of the City of Sheffield. The name ''Woodseats'' comes from the Old English ''Wodesettes'', which means a 'fold in a wood'. Nether Woodseats itself was little more than a cluster of cottages around a road called 'The Dale' close to the intersection of Woodseats Road and Chesterfield Road (A61) and Upper Woodseats, near the Abbey Lane and Chesterfield Road junction. Roger Iddison
Roger Iddison (15 September 1834 – 19 March 1890) was an English cricketer, and the original captain of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. He made seventy two first-class appearances for Yorkshire between 1855 and 1876, scoring 1,916 runs at an average of 20.60, and taking 102 wickets at 15.09. Born in Bedale, Yorkshire, to Roger and Jane Iddison, Iddison was a right-handed batsman who also bowled right-arm underarm slow lobs. He was noted for his fielding at point. His father was a guano merchant with a shop in Market Place, Bedale. Roger had a younger brother, William Holdsworth Iddison, who also played first-class cricket. Roger Iddison was first a butcher by trade, then kept a shop for cricket articles in Manchester (1864). He was part of the first team of English cricketers to tour Australia. The team played eight first class matches and won one of them 1882 season Derbyshire played six county games, two each against Lancashire, Sussex and Yorkshire.
