Leipzig-Leutzsch (german: Bahnhof Leipzig-Leutzsch) is a railway station located in Leipzig, Germany. The station is located on the junction of the Leipzig–Großkorbetha railway and Leipzig–Probstzella railway. The train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn. Since December 2013 the station is served by the S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland represents an enlargement of the previous Leipzig-Halle S-Bahn. Leipzig–Großkorbetha Railway
The Leipzig–Großkorbetha railway is a double track electrified in the German states of Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony, which connects the city of Leipzig and the Thuringian Railway. It runs from Leipzig via Markranstädt and Bad Dürrenberg to Großkorbetha. History The line was opened on 22 March 1856 by the Thuringian Railway Company (german: Thüringische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft) and is one of the List of the first German railways to 1870, oldest railways in Germany. Leipzig–Probstzella Railway
The Leipzig–Probstzella railway is a line in the German states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. It runs from Leipzig through the valley of the White Elster via Zeitz, Gera, Triptis, the Orlasenke lowland and Saalfeld to Probstzella. Since it runs parallel with the Saal Railway but is higher, it is also called the ''Obere Bahn'' ("upper railway"). Route The line begins in Leipzig Leutzsch and runs south from the city. The line then runs through the flat Leipzig Bay along the Elster through the former central German lignite mining area. Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund
The Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (MDV) is a transport association in the German Leipzig-Halle (Saale) area. The company is based in Halle (Saale), but its head office is in Leipzig. The MDV is a so-called mixed transport association (''Mischverbund''). Its shareholders are the public authorities (e.g. the administrative districts) (51%) and the transport companies (49%).
