Leipzig-Gohlis (german: Bahnhof Leipzig-Gohlis) is a railway station located in Gohlis, a borough of Leipzig, Germany. The station is located on the Leipzig-Wahren–Leipzig Hbf and Leipzig–Großkorbetha railways. Passenger services are operated by DB Regio. Leipzig-Wahren–Leipzig Hbf Railway
The Leipzig-Wahren–Leipzig Hbf railway is an electrified main line in the German state of Saxony. It runs from Leipzig-Wahren to Leipzig Hauptbahnhof and is part of the original route of the Magdeburg–Leipzig railway. Today it is used exclusively by services of the S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland. History The current Leipzig-Wahren–Leipzig Hbf line was opened on 18 August 1840 as part of the Magdeburg–Leipzig railway built by the Magdeburg-Leipzig Railway Company (''Magdeburg-Leipziger Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft''). Leipzig–Großkorbetha Railway
The Leipzig–Großkorbetha railway is a double track electrified in the German states of Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony, which connects the city of Leipzig and the Thuringian Railway. It runs from Leipzig via Markranstädt and Bad Dürrenberg to Großkorbetha. History The line was opened on 22 March 1856 by the Thuringian Railway Company (german: Thüringische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft) and is one of the List of the first German railways to 1870, oldest railways in Germany. Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund
The Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (MDV) is a transport association in the German Leipzig-Halle (Saale) area. The company is based in Halle (Saale), but its head office is in Leipzig. The MDV is a so-called mixed transport association (''Mischverbund''). Its shareholders are the public authorities (e.g. the administrative districts) (51%) and the transport companies (49%). The aim of the MDV is to make it easier for everyone in Mitteldeutschland to travel by local trains, S-Bahn, tram and bus. Gohlis
Gohlis is an area in the north of the city of Leipzig, Germany. Once a village outside the city, it is known as the place where Friedrich Schiller wrote the first version of his ''Ode to Joy'' in 1785. It urbanised during the ''Gründerzeit'' period of the 19th century and was incorporated into the city of Leipzig in 1890. Dominated by residential buildings from the late-19th and first half of the 20th century, Gohlis has a population of more than 45,000 inhabitants (2020). S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland represents an enlargement of the previous Leipzig-Halle S-Bahn. It is an electric rail public transit system operating in the metropolitan area of Leipzig-Halle, Germany. This S-Bahn (German abbreviation for ''Stadtschnellbahn'' - literally, "urban rapid aiload") network developed from two separate S-Bahn networks of Halle (Saale) and Leipzig, which were established separately in 1969 and then linked in 2004.
