Legislative Districts Of Quirino
The legislative districts of Quirino are the representations of the province of Quirino in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The province is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its lone congressional district. History The province was part of Nueva Vizcaya until 1973, and was last represented in Congress as part of it in 1972. From 1978 to 1984 it was part of the representation of Region II, and gained its own representation in 1984. In the Philippines, provinces ( fil, lalawigan) are one of its primary political and administrative divisions. There are 82 provinces at present, which are further subdivided into component cities and municipalities. The local government units in the National Capital Region, as well as independent cities, are independent of any provincial government. Each province is governed by an elected legislature called the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and an elected governor. The provinces are grouped into seventeen regions based on geographical, cultural, and ethnological characteristics. Quirino, officially the Province of Quirino ( ilo, Probinsia ti Quirino; tl, Lalawigan ng Quirino), is a landlocked province in the Philippines located in the Cagayan Valley region in Luzon. Its capital is Cabarroguis. It is named after Elpidio Quirino, the sixth President of the Philippines. The province borders Aurora to the southeast, Nueva Vizcaya to the west, and Isabela to the north. Quirino used to be part of the province of Nueva Vizcaya, until it was separated in 1966. The Philippines has been governed by legislatures since 1898. The country has had different setups, with legislatures under the presidential system and the parliamentary system, and with legislatures having one or two chambers. Quirino's At-large Congressional District
Quirino's at-large congressional district is the sole congressional district of the Philippines in the province of Quirino. It has been represented in the House of Representatives since 1987 and earlier in the Batasang Pambansa from 1984 to 1986. Quirino first elected a single representative provincewide at-large for the Regular Batasang Pambansa of the Fourth Philippine Republic in 1984 or more than 12 years since its creation as a regular province separate from Nueva Vizcaya on September 10, 1971. Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats, abbreviated as Lakas–CMD and also known simply as Lakas, is a political party in the Philippines. Lakas–CMD is considered to sit on the centre-right of the political spectrum, and is influenced by Christian democracy and Islamic democracy.
