Leflore County High School or LCHS is a public high school in Itta Bena, Mississippi, United States. It is a part of the Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District. History Previously the school was in the Leflore County School District. On July 1, 2019, the Leflore County and Greenwood Public School District (Mississippi), Greenwood districts consolidated into the Greenwood-Leflore School District. Campus Leflore County High is located in the small rural town of Itta Bena, Mississippi in Leflore County on Lakeside Drive. On campus, Leflore County Elementary, which serves pre-K through 6th grade, is also located on the back end of the school. Itta Bena, Mississippi
Itta Bena is a city in Leflore County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 2,049 at the 2010 census. The town's name is derived from the Choctaw phrase ''iti bina'', meaning "forest camp". Itta Bena is part of the Greenwood, Mississippi micropolitan area. It developed as a trading center of an area of cotton plantations. History Early history The indigenous Choctaw Indians occupied the Delta region for hundreds of years prior to the arrival of European settlers, with ancestors stretching thousands of years into the past. The first removal treaty carried out under the Indian Removal Act was the 1830 Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek, by which the Choctaw ceded about 11 million acres of the Choctaw Nation (now Mississippi) to the United States in exchange for about 15 million acres in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). Greenwood-Leflore Consolidated School District (GLCSD) is a school district serves Greenwood, Mississippi and the rest of Leflore County. It was established on July 1, 2019, as a merger of the Greenwood Public School District and the Leflore County School District. The initial superintendent is Dr. Mary Brown. Its projected enrollment as of 2018 was to be over 5,000 students. History Upon creation of the consolidated district, no existing schools closed. Operations The former Greenwood School District headquarters is the headquarters of the consolidated district, with the superintendent and assistant superintendents housed there. Other officials are divided between that building and the former Leflore County School District offices. Leflore County School District
The Leflore County School District (LCSD) was a public school district headquartered in Greenwood, Mississippi, United States. The district served areas in Leflore County outside of the City of Greenwood, including the city of Itta Bena, the towns of Morgan City, Schlater and Sidon, as well as the community of Minter City. Also some portions of Greenwood were in the district, as well as Mississippi Valley State, which contains faculty housing and residential apartments of Mississippi Valley State University. Tiger
The tiger (''Panthera tigris'') is the largest living cat species and a member of the genus '' Panthera''. It is most recognisable for its dark vertical stripes on orange fur with a white underside.
