Le Théâtre des Nouveaux Compagnons (English: ''The Theatre of New Companions'') is a Québécois theatre troupe. They see themselves as the successors of the Compagnons de Notre-Dame. This first incarnation was created in 1920 in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. It is the oldest French-speaking theater company in Canada. In 2020, the troupe celebrated their 100th anniversary. Theatre or theater is a collaborative form of performing art that uses live performers, usually actors or actresses, to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place, often a stage. Trois-Rivières (, – 'Three Rivers') is a city in the Mauricie administrative region of Quebec, Canada, at the confluence of the Saint-Maurice River, Saint-Maurice and Saint Lawrence River, Saint Lawrence rivers, on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River across from the city of Bécancour, Quebec, Bécancour. It is part of the densely populated Quebec City–Windsor Corridor and is approximately halfway between Montreal and Quebec City. Trois-Rivières is the economic and cultural hub of the Mauricie region. The settlement was founded by French colonists on July 4, 1634, as the second permanent settlement in New France, after Quebec City in 1608.
