Le Queen
Le Queen is a nightclub in Paris, located on the avenue des Champs-Élysées. Once a gay nightclub, Le Queen was formerly known as "Le Central" until its closing in early 1991. It was more or less the sequel to the Parisian club "Le Boy", as it was owned by the same person. The original "Directeur Artistique" was David Guetta. DJs at that time (1993–95) included Guetta, Rony, Claude Monnet as well as many guest DJs such as Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Sasha and many more. DJ Dimitri from Paris helped popularize the club with a weekly club-night called ''Paris is Burning'', which opened Le Queen up to a substantial heterosexual following, changing it from a gay club to a mega club. Current resident DJs include Offer Nissim, Paul Van Dyk, Joel Lovenski, Deep Dish, Lucy, KFK, and Michael Kaiser. Laurent Garnier (born 1 February 1966), also known as Choice, is a French electronic music producer and DJ. Garnier began DJing in Manchester during the late 1980s. He became a producer in the early 1990s and recorded several albums. Derrick May (born April 6, 1963), also known as Mayday and Is , is an American electronic musician from Belleville, Michigan, United States. May is credited with pioneering techno music in the 1980s along with collaborators Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, commonly known as The Belleville Three. He is best known for his live events and electronic music as a solo artist, as well as his collaborations with British DJ John Digweed as Sasha & John Digweed. Dimitri from Paris (born Dimitrios Yerasimos, el, Δημήτριος Γεράσιμος; 27 October 1963) is a French music producer and DJ of Greek descent. His musical influences are rooted in 1970s funk and disco sounds that spawned contemporary house music, as well as original soundtracks from 1950s and 1960s movies such as '' Breakfast at Tiffany's'', ''La Dolce Vita'' and '' The Party'', which were sampled in his album '' Sacrebleu''. Deep Dish is an American electronic music duo, consisting of Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi. Biography Based in Washington, D.C., it is well known for providing house or dance remixes of tracks of famous artists such as Madonna, Janet Jackson, Cher, Stevie Nicks and Gabrielle, and for its live DJ sets.
