Lawry's The Prime Rib
Lawry's is an upscale gourmet restaurant chain specializing in prime rib and the brand name of a seasoned salt blend spun off by the restaurant founders that evolved into a food products company today owned by McCormick & Company. The original location on Restaurant Row on La Cienega Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California, was opened in 1938 by Lawrence L. "Lawry" Frank and Walter Van de Kamp. There are now several additional locations in the United States and worldwide. The company is still operated by the families of the founders, with Richard R. La Cienega Boulevard
La Cienega Boulevard is a major north–south arterial road that runs between El Segundo Boulevard in Hawthorne, California on the south and the Sunset Strip/Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood to the north. It was named for Rancho Las Cienegas, literally "The Ranch Of The Swamps," an area of marshland south of Rancho La Brea. In the restaurant industry, gueridon service or tableside service is the cooking or finishing of foods by a waiter (or maître d'hôtel) at the diner's table, typically from a special serving cart called a ''guéridon'' trolley. This type of service is implemented in fine dining restaurants where the average spending power is higher, and a la carte menu is offered. 1956 Oregon State Beavers Football Team
The 1956 Oregon State Beavers football team represented Oregon State College in the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) during the 1956 NCAA University Division football season. In the regular season, the Beavers outscored their opponents 184 to 131 on their way to a 7–2–1 record (6–1–1 in PCC, first). They played three home games on campus at Parker Stadium in Corvallis, with one at Multnomah Stadium in Portland. The team captains were center Dick Corrick and quarterback Gerry Laird. Led by second-year head coach Tommy Prothro, Oregon State won the PCC title and were ranked tenth in the final AP poll, released in early December.
