Laureano Ladrón De Guevara
Laureano Manuel Ladrón de Guevara Romero (1889–1968), better known as Laureano Guevara, was a Chilean painter, printmaker and muralist. He was born in Molin, Chile on June 18, 1889, and died in Santiago, Chile on November 21, 1968. Education He began his artistic studies at Valparaiso, where he was a disciple of Juan Francisco Gonzalez with whom he learned drawing. Later, he studied law and architecture, which he abandoned to join the School of Fine Arts, University of Chile, where he studied with Jose Mercedes Ortega, Fernando Alvarez de Sotomayor, Alberto Valenzuela Llanos, Ricardo Richon-Brunet, and Pedro Lira. He was one of the members of Generation 13. Work After gaining recognition for his work and with the money he earned from his first exhibition, he traveled to Europe in 1924 to devote himself to studying the techniques of fresco painting and engraving. Henriette Petit (pseudonym of Ana Enriqueta Petit Marfan; March 3, 1894 - December 9, 1983), was a Chilean painter, member of the Grupo Montparnasse, of which she was a co-founder. Biography Ana Enriqueta Petit Marfan was born in Santiago, March 3, 1894. She began her career in the early 1910s, when she became a disciple of Juan Francisco González -considered one of the four "great masters of Chilean painting"- whom she met through her friend, the also painter, Marta Villanueva. Petit entered the School of Fine Arts in 1914, and two years later, she painted her first painting. Juana Lecaros
Juanita Lecaros Izquierdo (1920 – 1993) Chilean visual artist and poet. She is known for her paintings, and engravings. Lecaros used the pseudonym J. M. Sorcale for writing her poetry. Biography She studied art at the University of Chile between 1949 and 1953, where she was a student of Gustavo Carrasco in drawing, Laureano Ladrón de Guevara in mural painting and Eduardo Martínez Bonati in engraving. She also took printmaking classes at Taller 99 with Bonati. While attending university, she was a member of the "Grupo de Estudiantes Plásticos". Although Lecaros never traveled abroad, her works were exhibited in the United States, Brazil, and Italy. In parallel, she wrote poetry which she signed under the pseudonym J. M. Sorcale. Her work can be found in the museum collections at the Museum of Modern Art. Pedro Francisco Lira Rencoret (17 May 1845, Santiago – 20 April 1912, Santiago) was a Chilean painter and art critic, who organized exhibitions that led to the establishment of the Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts. He is best known for his eclectic portraits of women. Biography He was born into a wealthy family and his father was José Santos Lira Calvo, Minister of the Court of Appeals. His primary education was received at the Instituto Nacional General José Miguel Carrera.
