Laura Asadauskaitė
Laura Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė (born 28 February 1984 in Vilnius) is a Lithuanian modern pentathlete. She won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and achieved an Olympic record score. Asadauskaitė also competed in three other Olympics, 2008 in Beijing, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, and in 2021 in Tokyo Olympics in which she was awarded with the silver medal. She has been European and World Champion in pentathlon. In 2009 Asadauskaitė married modern pentathlete Andrejus Zadneprovskis, a former world champion who won two Olympic medals. The following year she gave birth to a daughter. Modern Pentathlon
The modern pentathlon is an Olympic sport consisting of fencing (one-touch épée), freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping, pistol shooting, and cross country running. The event is inspired by the traditional pentathlon held during the ancient Olympics. The modern pentathlon was first held in 1912, and its rules have changed several times over the years. The latest structure, as of the 2020 Olympics, consists of three separate events for fencing, swimming, and equestrian, which determine each athlete's starting time in the final event. The last event, called the laser-run, alternates four legs of laser pistol shooting followed by an 800 m run (for 3200 m in total). Biathle
Biathle is a sub-sport of modern pentathlon invented to create opportunities for training the run and swim parts of pentathlon in real race conditions. It is a sport in its own right. It bears close resemblance to aquathlon which also contains swimming and running but comes from triathlon sport. Sport Biathle is an event that can involve a run―swim―run course, or simply a swim―run course. It is a world class sport but not an Olympic one. The legs are raced with continuous transitions like triathlon. The race length is usually 200 m swim and 3 km run, which is shorter than aquathlon usually is. A variant is Winter Biathle which has indoor swimming and does not have continuous transitions. 2023 European Modern Pentathlon Championships
Five modern pentathlon events at the 2023 European Games were held at the Bronisław Czech Academy of Physical Education in Kraków, Poland , from 25 June to 1 July 2023. Five events were on the program under the new format of modern pentathlon. The seven-day program took place in the following order: Women's Qualification, Men's Qualification, Women's Semi-finals, Men's Semi-finals, Mixed Relay, Women's Final and Men's Final. The new elimination format only qualifies 18 athletes for the individual finals. Olympic Quotas The events are used as a continental qualifying tournament for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The top eight ranked athletes in the men's and women's individual competitions will be allocated a quota place, with a maximum of one quota place per National Olympic Committee per gender.
