Lasco was a seasonal logging camp in Lassen County, California. It was located on what was the Fernley and Lassen Railway branch of the Southern Pacific Railroad north of Westwood, at an elevation of 5574 feet (1699 m). LASCO is the Laboratory for the Analysis of Organizational Communication Systems of the University of Louvain (UCLouvain), located in Louvain-la-Neuve and Mons in Belgium. The LASCO was created in February 2000 as part of the Communication Department of UCLouvain. Its founders were Pierre de Saint-Georges, Axel Gryspeerdt and Vincent Defourny. LASCO has been chaired by Thierry Libaert and François Lambotte; since 2015, it is chaired by Andrea Catellani. Large Angle And Spectrometric Coronagraph
The Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph (LASCO) on board the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory satellite (SOHO) consists of three solar coronagraphs with nested fields of view: * C1 - a Fabry–Pérot interferometer coronagraph imaging from 1.1 to 3 solar radii * C2 - a white light coronagraph imaging from 1.5 to 6 solar radii (orange) * C3 - a white light coronagraph imaging from 3.7 to 30 solar radii (blue) The first principal investigator was Dr. Guenter Brueckner. These coronagraphs monitor the solar corona by using an optical system to create, in effect, an artificial solar eclipse. The white light coronagraphs C2 and C3 produce images of the corona over much of the visible spectrum, while the C1 interferometer produces images of the corona in a number of very narrow visible wavelength bands. Larkin Aircraft Supply Company
The Larkin Aircraft Supply Company (Lasco) was an Australian aircraft manufacturer based at Coode Island in Melbourne. History After returning from the First World War Herbert Joseph Larkin, a fighter pilot with the Royal Flying Corps, and his brother Reg Larkin formed an agency for Sopwith aircraft. The company was formed in 1919 as the Larkin-Sopwith Aviation Company of Australia Limited, manufacturing aircraft components. The original company went into liquidation and Herbert Larkin then started the Larkin Aircraft Supply Company (known as Lasco) in 1921. In 1925 the company produced copies of the Avro 504K. The company also produced under-licence the de Havilland Gipsy Moth and one de Havilland DH.50 biplane. Lascaux ( , ; french: Grotte de Lascaux , "Lascaux Cave") is a network of caves near the village of Montignac, in the department of Dordogne in southwestern France. Over 600 parietal wall paintings cover the interior walls and ceilings of the cave. The paintings represent primarily large animals, typical local contemporary fauna that correspond with the fossil record of the Upper Paleolithic in the area. They are the combined effort of many generations and, with continued debate, the age of the paintings is now usually estimated at around 17,000 years (early Magdalenian). Because of the outstanding prehistoric art in the cave, Lascaux was inducted into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979, as an element of the ''Prehistoric Sites and Decorated Caves of the Vézère Valley''.
