Laraaji (born Edward Larry Gordon, 3 May 1943) is an American multi-instrumentalist specializing in piano, zither and mbira. His albums include the 1980 release ''Day of Radiance, Ambient 3: Day of Radiance'', produced by Brian Eno as part of his ''Ambient'' series. Early life and career Born Edward Larry Gordon in Philadelphia, he studied violin, piano, trombone and voice in his early years in New Jersey. He attended Howard University, a historically black university in Washington, D.C., where he studied composition and piano. After studying at Howard University, Howard, he spent time in New York City pursuing a career as a stand-up comedian and actor, as well as playing Fender Rhodes electric piano in a jazz-rock band ‘Winds of Change’. Swami Satchidananda
Satchidananda Saraswati (; 22 December 1914 – 19 August 2002), born C. K. Ramaswamy Gounder and usually known as Swami Satchidananda, was an Indian yoga guru and religious teacher, who gained fame and following in the West. He founded his own brand of Integral Yoga, and its spacious Yogaville headquarters in Virginia. He was the author of philosophical and spiritual books and had a core of founding disciples who compiled his translations and updated commentaries on traditional handbooks of yoga such as the ''Yoga Sutras of Patanjali'' and the ''Bhagavad Gita'' for modern readers. In 1991, multiple female members of staff made allegations of sexual manipulation and abuse, more coming forwards after an initial protest. Blues Control
Blues Control was an American experimental music duo from Queens, New York City. Blues Control's members were Russ Waterhouse (guitar, electronics) and Lea Cho (keyboards). Bill Laswell
William Otis Laswell (born February 12, 1955) is an American bass guitarist, record producer, and record label owner. He has been involved in thousands of recordings with many collaborators from all over the world. His music draws from funk, world music, jazz, dub, and ambient styles. According to music critic Chris Brazier, "Laswell's pet concept is 'collision music' which involves bringing together musicians from wildly divergent but complementary spheres and seeing what comes out." The credo of one record label run by Laswell which typifies much of his work is "Nothing Is True, Everything Is Permitted". Roger Eno
Roger Eugene Eno (born in Woodbridge, Suffolk, Woodbridge, England, in 1959) is an English ambient music composer. He is the brother of Brian Eno. Early life and education Roger Eno began euphonium lessons when he was 12 years old, and entered Colchester Institute to study music when he was 16. Upon graduating, and after a period of busking in London (where he briefly shared a house with artists Mark Wallinger and Andy Dog), Eno returned to Colchester to run a music therapy course at a local hospital for people with learning difficulties. Michael Brook (born 1951) is a Canadian guitarist, inventor, music producer, and film music composer. He plays in many genres, including rock, electronica, world music, minimalism and film scores. His collaborations with musicians around the world have made him "one of the most sought-after producers in the music industry." Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Brook lives in Los Angeles. History All Saints Records was founded in 1991, named after a street in West London. Music For Films III
''Music for Films III'' is the third entry in Brian Eno's "Music for Films" series. Unlike entries in the past, this record features tracks credited to Brian Eno, Roger Eno, Michael Brook, and Harold Budd among others, with Brian Eno involved with the production of all tracks. Several different versions of this album exist. The record and cassette release featured 15 tracks, while the original CD release contained the same tracks in a different playing order. In 2005, an updated CD, featuring two extra tracks, new artwork, a different playing order and sequencing by the group Marconi Union was released. Various tracks from ''Music for Films III'' were incorporated into the soundtrack for Al Reinert's 1989 documentary '' For All Mankind''. Jonathan Goldman
Jonathan Goldman is an American author, musician and spiritual teacher in the fields of Harmonics and Sound Healing. He is based in Boulder, Colorado. Career Goldman began as a guitarist in the Boston punk scene in the late 1970s. Goldman began to research the science of sound and music psychology, directing his overall studies towards the possible use of sound as a healing force. In 1982, he founded the Sound Healers Association (SHA) in Lexington, Massachusetts. During this time, Goldman continued his research with a master's degree from Lesley University. He began recording his own music and he formed Spirit Music, one of the first record labels dedicated to the therapeutic use of sound and music. The label has recorded and released music by Goldman, as well as Don Campbell, Sarah Benson, Sam McClellan, Laraaji, the Gyume Monks and more recently, Lama Tashi, among others. The Numero Group
The Numero Group is an archival record label that creates compilations of previously released music, reissues original albums, and creates album reconstructions from a variety of musical genres. The label, known as Numero, was founded in 2003 by Rob Sevier, Ken Shipley (a former A&R manager for the equally eclectic Rykodisc label), and Tom Lunt.
