Lara, Antalya
Lara is a district of Antalya city, Turkey. Lara is a balneoclimatic and balneoclimateric location bordering the Mediterranean Sea. It is home to many luxury-themed hotels, mainly at the popular Lara Beach area which includes the Lara, Kundu, Aksu and Muratpaşa municipalities of Antalya province. Most of the hotels are replicas of famous places around the world, luxury design hotels and theme hotels (for example Topkapi Palace, Venice Palace, Kremlin Palace, Titanic Beach Lara, Concorde De Luxe Resort) with All inclusive concept. "Lara" is Luwian for sand. Beach Lara Beach, together with Konyaaltı Beach, is one of the two important beaches of Antalya. Luwian Language
Luwian (), sometimes known as Luvian or Luish, is an ancient language, or group of languages, within the Anatolian branch of the Indo-European language family. Konyaaltı Beach
Konyaaltı Beach ( tr, Konyaaltı Plajı) is one of the two main beaches of Antalya, the other being Lara Beach. The beach is located on the western side of the city and stretches for 13 km primarily composed of fine pebbles, but also has some sand. The water is beautifully clear. Konyaaltı Beach has "Blue Flag" status, which confirms the good water quality. It is bound inwards by the beach park and numerous bars, cafes, nightclubs and hotels. Sand art is the practice of modelling sand into an artistic form, such as sand brushing, sand sculpting, sandpainting, sand painting, or creating Sandpainting#Sand bottles, sand bottles. Sandland (Antalya)
Sandland ( tr, Uluslararası Antalya Kum Heykel Festivali) is an international sand art festival held annually in Antalya, southern Turkey. It was established in 2006. Established in 2006, Sandland is held annually at Lara Beach of Antalya, stretching over an area of . Each year, a different theme is chosen for the sculptures. Visitors are allowed to watch during the creation of sand sculptures. More than ten sand sculptors from around eight to ten countries all over the world create sand sculptures in nearly three weeks. The sculptures are made durable for a time period of twelve months. The sculptures are illuminated in the darknes so that access is allowed also in the night. Admission tickets are at 30.00 (US$7.00) for adults and 15.00 (US$3.00) for children of age 3-12. Discounts are available for students and seniors.
