Lanerossi
Lanerossi is an Italian textile brand, established in the 19th century by Schio's Lanificio Rossi. Since 1987, the brand belongs to the Italian group Marzotto, which use it for the design, production, and marketing of textiles. History In 1817, Francesco Rossi founded the Lanificio Rossi wool in Schio. In 1849, Alessandro Rossi, son of Francesco Rossi, inherited the wool factory. Under his leadership, the company became one of the main industries in Italy. In 1873, the company became Lanificio Rossi s.p.a, a public limited company listed on the Milan Stock Exchange. In the 1960s, the Italian state acquired Lanerossi through the oil company ENI. In 1987, Lanerossi was acquired by the competitor Marzotto Group, the current owner, with the consequent cancellation of the stock exchange. Schio
Schio is a town and comune in the province of Vicenza (region of Veneto, northern Italy) situated north of Vicenza and east of the Lake Garda. It is surrounded by the Little Dolomites (Italian Prealps) and Mount Pasubio. History Its name comes from Latin: ''escletum'' was a wood of oaks and it was first used in a document of some Benedictines from Vicenza. The first settlements were around two old hills, where now there are respectively the ruins of an old castle and a majestic neoclassical cathedral. The Marzotto Group is an Italian textile manufacturer, based in Valdagno. Created in 1836 as the ''Lanificio Luigi Marzotto & Figli''. In 2005 Marzotto Group's textile business separated from Valentino Fashion Group. The Group manufactures woollen and cotton yarns for clothing, and through equity investments, woollen yarns for knitwear, linen yarns and silk. Alessandro Rossi (Schio, 21 November 1819 – Santorso, 28 February 1898) was an Italian textile industrialist and politician. He introduced technological innovation for manufacturing wool in Schio, Veneto. He inherited the wool mill Lanificio Rossi from his father Francesco Rossi, and converted the company into one of the main industries of Italy. He was deputy and senator of the Kingdom of Italy.
