Lake Carmi
Lake Carmi is a small and relatively shallow lake located in the town of Franklin, in the northwest corner of Vermont, United States. It is the fourth largest lake located entirely within Vermont, and has a surface area, an average depth of and a maximum depth of . Lake Carmi supports many species of fish, including northern pike and walleye. The lake drains northwards into the Pike River in Quebec. Lake Carmi was once much larger. In the thousands of years since the last ice age, the southern end of the original lake has silted in, creating wetland forests and the third largest peat bog in Vermont. At the southern end of the lake, Lake Carmi State Park offers camping facilities. Vermont Route 120 runs along the northern shoreline. Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Vermont. As of the 2020 census, the population was 49,946. Its county seat is the city of St. Albans. Franklin, Vermont
Franklin is a town in Franklin County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,363 at the 2020 census. The original name was "Huntsburgh", but the name was changed to "Franklin" in 1817. Geography Franklin is located along the northern border of Franklin County, which also is the northern border of Vermont and the Canada–United States border. The main community in town is the hamlet of Franklin near the town center, while East Franklin is on the town's eastern border. Vermont Route 120 passes through the town center, leading south to North Sheldon and east to East Franklin. The 13th Vermont Infantry Regiment was a nine months' infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
