Ladislav Helge
Ladislav Helge (21 August 1927 – 31 January 2016) was a Czech film director and screenwriter. He directed 7 films between 1957 and 1967, including '' Škola otců'' (1957). He also wrote screenplays for 5 films. He started as an assistant director for Jiří Krejčík in 1947 and directed his first movie in 1957. After 1968 he wasn't allowed to direct another film and worked at a post office. From 1977 to 1992 he worked as a screenwriter in Laterna magika. Czech Republic
The Czech Republic, or simply Czechia, is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Historically known as Bohemia, it is bordered by Austria to the south, Germany to the west, Poland to the northeast, and Slovakia to the southeast. A film director controls a film's artistic and dramatic aspects and visualizes the screenplay (or script) while guiding the film crew and actors in the fulfilment of that vision. The director has a key role in choosing the cast members, production design and all the creative aspects of filmmaking. Jiří Krejčík
Jiří Krejčík (; 26 June 1918 – 8 August 2013) was a Czech film director, screenwriter and actor. Born in 1918 in Prague, he began his film career as an extra for Barrandov Studios, during World War II. He then began creating short films and commercials. His first directorial feature film was 1947's ''A Week in the Quiet House (Týden v tichém domě)'', in which he wrote the screenplay based on the short stories of Jan Neruda. In 1948, he directed ''Border Village (Ves v pohraničí)'' about a coal-mining village on the Czech border after World War II. He also wrote and directed different segments of the 1959 film ''Of Things Supernatural (O vecech nadprirozených)'', which won him Special Mention at the Locarno International Film Festival. Laterna Magika
Laterna magika ( cs, Laterna magika), largely considered the world's first multimedia theatre, was founded as a cultural program at the 1958 Brussels Expo. It launched its official activity on 9 May 1959, as an independent company of the National Theatre, performing at the Adria palace in Prague. Wonderful Circus, which premiered in 1977, is the most frequently performed theatre piece in Central Europe, and has remained in the repertoire ever since. Laterna magika now is one of the ensembles of the National Theatre, based at the New Stage of the National Theatre in Prague. Laterna magika productions blend various genres, ranging from dramatic acting through affording a dominant role to dance and ballet to mime and Black Theatre. The Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague ( cs, Filmová a televizní fakulta Akademie múzických umění v Praze) or FAMU is a film school in Prague, Czech Republic, founded in 1946 as one of three branches of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. It is the fifth oldest film school in the world. The teaching language on most courses at FAMU is Czech, but FAMU also runs certain courses in English. The school has repeatedly been included on lists of the best film schools in the world by ''The Hollywood Reporter''.
