Lachine Maroons
Les Maroons de Lachine were a Canadian Junior ice hockey team from Lachine, Quebec, Canada. It started as a franchise in the Metropolitaine leagues in 1953 in both the Junior A and Junior B divisions. Later, in 1995, the Pierrefonds Lions of the Quebec Junior A league moved to Lachine and resumed use of the name. Following the 2014–15 season the Maroon franchise was sold to investors of the Gatineau Mustangs. The Mustangs were former members of the Eastern Ontario Junior B Hockey League. This league re-organized and re-branded itself as the Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2 and eliminated 6 teams, one of which was the Gatineau Mustangs. Lachine, Quebec
Lachine () is a borough (''arrondissement'') within the city of Montreal on the Island of Montreal in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It was an autonomous city until the municipal mergers in 2002. History Lachine, apparently from the French term ''la Chine'' (China), is often said to have been named in 1667, in mockery of its then owner René-Robert Cavelier de La Salle, who explored the interior of North America trying to find a passage to China. When he returned without success, he and his men were derisively named ''les Chinois'' (the Chinese). The name was adopted when the parish of Saints-Anges-de-la-Chine was created in 1676, with the form Lachine appearing with the opening of a post office in 1829. Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League
The Ligue de Hockey Junior du Québec (LHJQ) or Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL) is a Hockey Québec Canadian Junior A ice hockey league and is a member of Hockey Canada and the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The winner of the QJHL playoffs competes for the Fred Page Cup against the winners of the Central Junior A Hockey League and the Maritime Hockey League and the host team, which is on a three-year cycle between the MHL, CJHL and LHJQ. The winner of the Fred Page Cup then moves on to compete for the Centennial Cup. Pete Morin
Joseph Pierre Marius "Pete, Pit" Morin (December 8, 1915 – January 5, 2000) was a professional ice hockey forward who played a single season for the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL. Playing career Morin was born and raised in the Montreal suburb of Lachine and began playing for the Montreal Royals of the QSHL in 1936. There, he skated alongside Buddy O'Connor and Gerry Heffernan and the trio became known as the "Razzle Dazzle" line. In 1941–42 the three played together for the Canadiens. In 31 games he recorded 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points and appeared as a promising forward. Junior Ice Hockey
Junior hockey is a level of competitive ice hockey generally for players between 16 and 21 years of age. Junior hockey leagues in the United States and Canada are considered amateur (with some exceptions) and operate within regions of each country. Gatineau Flames
The Gatineau Flames are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Buckingham, Quebec. The team is a member of the Quebec Junior Hockey League, but was a member of the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League for decades, ending in 2015. History Originally known as the Voisins de Papineau (Papineau Neighbours), the Neighbours lost in the 1999 final and won the 2000 Eastern Ontario Junior "B" title despite being from the Province of Quebec. In 2006, the Mustangs hosted the 2006 Coupe Dodge, the Hockey Quebec Junior "AA" championships.
