La Virgen is a district A district is a type of administrative division that, in some countries, is managed by the local government. Geography La Virgen has an area of km² and an elevation of metres. It presents a mountainous territory in its south end whereas in north direction the land goes down and ends in the plains of Sarapiquí. Location It is located in the northern region of the country and borders the districts of Cureña to the north, Varablanca de Heredia to the south, Puerto Viejo and Horquetas to the east. While to the west it borders with the province of Alajuela. National Secondary Route 126, or just Route 126 ( es, Ruta Nacional Secundaria 126, or ) is a National Road Route of Costa Rica, located in the Alajuela, Heredia provinces. It connects Route 3 and Route 4. Description Starting at the downtown area of Heredia canton, at Route 3, this road goes through Heredia, Barva, Carrizal, and Varablanca slightly following the province limit between Heredia and Alajuela, until arriving to Route 4 at Bajos de Chilamate in Sarapiquí. It allows access to the Poás Volcano National Park when driving from Heredia, by turning at Route 120.
