La Renga
La Renga is a hard rock Argentine band, formed in 1988. They had moderate success with the albums '' A Dónde Me Lleva La Vida'' and '' Bailando en una pata'', between 1993 and 1995, but it was the release of Despedazado por Mil Partes, in 1996, that made them nationally famous. With the releases of '' La Renga'' in 1998 and '' La Esquina del Infinito'' the following year, they gained some international fame, touring and doing concerts in Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Spain, Mexico, the United States and other countries of Latin America. They have sold over one million albums and DVDs in Argentina. Mataderos
Mataderos (Spanish for "slaughterhouses") is a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is one of the three ''barrios'' that make up the Comuna 9, alongside Liniers and Parque Avellaneda. Located in the south-west end of the city, it takes its name from the livestock market and various slaughterhouses located within it. History For much of its history, the area was a meeting point between the city and the countryside, and thus became a hub for rural commerce, and the main stop for gauchos inside city limits. Born To Be Wild
"Born to Be Wild" is a song written by Mars Bonfire and first performed by the band Steppenwolf. The song is often invoked in both popular and counter culture to denote a biker appearance or attitude. It is most notably featured in the 1969 film ''Easy Rider''. It is sometimes described as the first heavy metal song, and the second verse lyric "heavy metal thunder" marks the first use of this term in rock music (although not as a description of a musical style but rather a motorcycle). Composition "Born to Be Wild" was written by Mars Bonfire as a ballad. Bonfire was previously a member of the Sparrows, the predecessor band to Steppenwolf, and his brother was Steppenwolf's drummer. ''Bailando En Una Pata'' is the third album by the Argentine hard rock band La Renga. It contains songs from '' Esquivando Charcos'' performed live and recorded at the Arena Obras Sanitarias. It was edited in "El Pie" Studios in July, 1995. The album has a live cover of Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild" but the title appears in Spanish and a new song at the time: ''El Viento Que Todo Empuja''. The studio version of this song appears in 1996's album ''Despedazado por Mil Partes''. The album achieved 2× platinum status in Argentina for selling over 120,000 copies. Estadio Obras Sanitarias (also known as Arena Obras Sanitarias and Templo del Rock) is an indoor arena that is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The arena, home venue of club Obras Sanitarias, is mainly used to host basketball games and concerts. It has a capacity of 3,100 people for basketball games, and 4,700 people for concerts. Over the years, the arena has been one of two home venues often used by the sports club Obras Sanitarias, with the other being the Polideportivo Municipal de San Rafael. Esquivando Charcos
''Esquivando Charcos'' is the first album by Argentine band La Renga. Until 1991 it was only available in cassette and it was not available in music shops, although the live versions of these songs (along with a few other tracks) can be heard in the album ''Bailando En Una Pata''. It was recorded, distributed and produced in a totally independent way by the band. The album was included in a US-only collection called ''Clásicos del Rock en Español'' without the band's knowledge and with different artwork. Background Since the band did not have a company to produce the album, they decided to do it themselves (record, distribution and production). They made 1000 copies, which they sold at their concerts. With the great progress the band made, when they became famous (after releasing their fourth album ''Despedazado por Mil Partes''), PolyGram suggested to them that it should be re-released. The Animals (also billed as Eric Burdon and the Animals) are an English rock band, formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in the early 1960s. The band moved to London upon finding fame in 1964. Vox Dei (Latin, 'Voice of God') is an Argentine rock band credited for recording the country's first concept album, '' La Biblia''. Their most prolific years were the 1970s, when they recorded ten albums. Vox Dei have had several line-up changes and a five-year hiatus. Their third and most commercially successful line-up featured Ricardo Soulé (guitar and vocals), Willy Quiroga (bass and vocals) and Rubén Basoalto (drums). This line-up was active from 1972 to 1974 (then in 1978 to the 1981 break-up), and was revived from 1986 to 1989, and again from 1996 to 1998. Creedence Clearwater Revival, also referred to as Creedence and CCR, was an American rock band formed in El Cerrito, California.
