La Manada Sex Abuse Case Of Pozoblanco
The La Manada sex abuse case of Pozoblanco is the legal process pursued against a group of men from Seville for their alleged sexual aggression of a 21-year-old girl in Pozoblanco, southern Spain, on 1 May 2016. The case arose following the discovery of footage in a phone belonging to one of the alleged aggressors showing an unresponsive girl lying in a van being subjected to groping and mockery. The victim, who has little memory of the elapsed time, let a friend know that "something had happened" to her, but knew of the sex abuses she suffered only after officers from the regional police of Navarre showed her the evidence, deciding in turn to report. On 4 June 2020, the perpetrators Alfonso Jesús Cabezuelo, Jesús Escudero and Antonio Manuel Guerrero were found guilty of sex abuse and offense against intimacy, and condemned to prison terms of two years and ten months each, with José Angel Prenda being convicted also of diffusing the images on WhatsApp with a prison term of four ye ...

Pozoblanco
Pozoblanco () is a town in the province of Córdoba, southern Spain, in the north-central part of the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is located near the headwaters of the Guadamatillas and of other small sub-tributaries of the Guadiana, in the lowlands of Los Pedroches, which lie between the Sierra de la Alcildia on the north and the Sierra Morena on the south. It is the birthplace of the novelist Rafael Peñas Cruz and the composer Lorenzo Palomo. History Pozoblanco, like other nearby towns such as Villanueva de Córdoba, likely originated in the mid 14th century when residents of nearby Pedroche fled from the bubonic plague. Alternatively, Pozoblanco may have begun as a small outpost that developed over time as residents of Pedroche were forced to pasture their livestock farther and farther from the town. Another possibility is that Pozoblanco was founded by a Jewish community, perhaps after being expelled from Pedroche. The first settlements were in the area known ...

La Manada Rape Case
The La Manada rape case began with the gang rape of an 18-year-old woman on 7 July 2016 during the San Fermín celebrations in Pamplona, Navarre, Spain. The case drew intense public scrutiny as it called into question the definition of rape under Spanish law. Five men, including a member of the Civil Guard and another of the Spanish Army from Seville, filmed themselves repeatedly attacking the girl in the vestibule of an apartment building. ''La Manada'' means "The pack" in Spanish. After their arrest and trial, the men were cleared of sexual aggression charges and instead found guilty of sexual abuse because the prosecution could not prove they employed violence to subjugate the victim. Thousands took to the streets in Pamplona and Spain to manifest their disapproval of the verdict. The inquiry of the aggression uncovered footage shared on social media recorded by the perpetrators in Pozoblanco, Andalusia, showing an unresponsive girl lying on their van subject to groping and d ...

Violence Against Women In Spain
The status of women in Spain has evolved from the country's earliest history, culture, and social norms. Throughout the late 20th century, Spain has undergone a transition from Francoist Spain (1939-1975), during which women's rights were severely restricted, to a democratic society where gender equality is a fundamental principle. As such, during the past decades the position of women in Spanish society has greatly improved. Women in the broader Spanish population outnumber men by 900,000, totaling an estimated group of 24 million (as of July 2017). Until the establishing of separation of church and state in 1978, the Catholic Church in Spain has played a major role with regard to official views on women's role in society. Role in society During the Francoist era, Spanish social values codified a stance of morality that established rigid standards female sexuality by restricting employment opportunities and prohibiting divorce, contraception, and abortion.Eric Solste ...
