L’Oreal New Zealand Fashion Week
New Zealand Fashion Week, also known as NZ Fashion Week or NZFW, is an annual Fashion Week held in New Zealand. History New Zealand Fashion Week held its first show on 23 October 2001, opened by the prime minister at the time, Helen Clark. It was held at the Auckland Town Hall and sponsored by L'Oreal (the event was called L'Oreal New Zealand Fashion Week until 2004). In 2004, Air New Zealand replaced L'Oreal as the naming rights sponsor of the event and the new main venue was moved to the Alinghi and Team New Zealand sheds at the Viaduct Harbour in Auckland. In 2009, Air New Zealand dropped its naming rights sponsorship for the show. In 2014, the event moved to the Viaduct Events Centre. In 2019, NZFW moved back to the original venue at the Auckland Town Hall. Dame Pieter Stewart, founder of the event, sold it to Faroz Ali in May 2021. The Viaduct Events Centre is a stand-alone, multi-purpose events centre built on the Halsey Street extension wharf, Wynyard Quarter of Auckland, New Zealand. It was owned and operated by Regional Facilities Auckland, an organisation under the control of Auckland Council. Opened in August 2011 at a cost of approximately $32 million, the facility offered eight separate rooms suitable for a wide range of events including conferences, gala dinners and exhibitions. Since opening, it hosted major events, most notably the New Zealand Fashion Week. The centre was also usually busy with numerous corporate functions, dinners and conferences. Several schools had also chosen the centre for their annual ball. Viaduct Harbour, formerly known as Viaduct Basin, is a former commercial harbour on the Auckland waterfront that has been turned into a development of mostly upscale apartments, office space and restaurants. iD Dunedin Fashion Week is an annual festival of fashion held in the New Zealand South Island city of Dunedin. The festival has been held regularly since 1999, and is held in the southern autumn in March or April.
