Lynn Creek Shelter
The Lynn Creek Shelter, designated by the Smithsonian trinomial 3BV19, is a prehistoric archaeological site in Van Buren County, Arkansas. Set on a bluff of the eastern Ozark Mountains, the site includes evidence of human habitation from about 8000 BCE to the historic contact period. The site has been disturbed by unauthorized activities. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Fairfield Bay, Arkansas
Fairfield Bay is a city in Cleburne and Van Buren counties in the northern part of the U.S. state of Arkansas. The population was 2,108 at the 2020 census. The population in its portion in Van Buren County, which accounts for the bulk of the city limits, made the city the most populous in Van Buren County as of the 2000 census, but with a slight decline in population, lost the distinction to Clinton as of 2010. Fairfield Bay, located on the shore of Greers Ferry Lake, is home to Fairfield Bay Resort, the namesake of Wyndham Worldwide-owned Fairfield Resorts. Geography Fairfield Bay is located in eastern Van Buren County at , extending eastward into Cleburne County. Van Buren County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,295. The county seat is Clinton. The county was formed on November 11, 1833, and named for Martin Van Buren, President of the United States, who was Vice President at the time of the county's formation. Van Buren County was a dry county until November 3, 2020 as the county residents voted to make it a wet county. Van Buren County should not be confused with the city of Van Buren, which is located approximately 100 miles to the west in Crawford County just north of Fort Smith. Ozark Mountains
The Ozarks, also known as the Ozark Mountains, Ozark Highlands or Ozark Plateau, is a physiographic region in the U.S. states of Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and the extreme southeastern corner of Kansas. The Edgemont Shelter, also designated by the Smithsonian trinomial 3VB6, is a prehistoric rock art site in Van Buren County, Arkansas. Located on a bluff overlooking Greers Ferry Lake, it consists of a panel extensively painted with petroglyphs. The site has been dated to about 1500. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
