Lviv State University of Physical Culture ( uk, Львівський державний університет фізичної культури) is a university specializing in sports education and located in Lviv, Ukraine. History Lviv State University of Physical Culture was established as a Soviet educational institution specializing in sports education. On May 7, 1946 by order of the USSR Council of Ministers in Lviv was established Lviv State Institute of Physical Culture on basis of the existing school ( technicum) of Physical Culture as well as sports facilities of the Lviv branch of Spartak sports society that previously belonged to the Polish Sokol gymnastic association. The institute was established with an officially declared goal to prepare highly qualified personnel especially for the western regions of the USSR and scientific development of physical education and sports, scientific and methodological assistance to various sports organizations. Olha Knysh
Olha Ihorivna Knysh ( uk, Ольга Ігорівна Книш; born 6 October 1995) is a former female alpine skier from Ukraine. She represented Ukraine at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She participated thrice at World Cup in giant slalom but she didn't manage to qualify for the second run in any race. Sporting career Knysh began skiing in September 1998 in Lviv, Ukraine. She also tried tennis, judo and artistic gymnastics but decided to focus on alpine skiing at the age of 14. Knysh was coached by former Olympian Yuliya Shepilenko who represented Ukraine at the 1998 Winter Olympics. Anfisa Serhiyivna Pochkalova ( uk, Анфіса Сергіївна Почкалова; born 1 March 1990) is a Ukrainian épée fencer. She is the 2009 world individual bronze medalist. Personal life Pochkalova was born 1 March 1990 in Lviv. She is a student at the Lviv State University of Physical Culture. Career Pochkalova learnt fencing in Lviv under Zoriana Savruk, then Andriy Orlykovskyi, who also trained Olympic champion Yana Shemyakina. She won in 2007 a bronze medal at the Cadet European Championships in Novi Sad and a silver medal at the Junior European Championship in Prague. International Grandmaster
Grandmaster (GM) is a title awarded to chess players by the world chess organization FIDE. Apart from World Champion, Grandmaster is the highest title a chess player can attain. Once achieved, the title is held for life, though exceptionally it has been revoked for cheating. The title of Grandmaster, along with the lesser FIDE titles of International Master (IM) and FIDE Master (FM), is open to all players regardless of gender. The great majority of grandmasters are men, but 40 women have been awarded the GM title as of 2022, out of a total of about 2000 grandmasters. Andriy Leonidovych Husin ( ua, Андрій Леонідович Гусін; 11 December 1972 – 17 September 2014) was a Ukrainian professional association football, football player and coach. Viktor Ivanovich Chukarin (russian: Виктор Иванович Чукарин, uk, Віктор Іванович Чукарін; 9 November 1921 – 25 August 1984) was a Soviet gymnast.
