History The airline was established by Air Ukraine in 1992 from the Lviv Division of the Aeroflot Ukraine Directorate. As of March 2007, it had 446 employees. Since 2009, there are no scheduled services. Its only remaining aircraft is used for charter flights, mostly on behalf of Aerosvit Airlines and Donbassaero. The airport is second largest and busiest airport in Ukraine, located from central Lviv. The airport is named after King Daniel of Galicia, the historical founder of the city in 1256 AD. On 24 February 2022, Ukraine closed airspace to civilian flights due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. History Early history Established in 1929 as Lwów-Skniłów Airport. Skniłów was the name of the neighbouring village which today is part of Lviv. Before the Second World War, it operated a domestic route to Warsaw and Krakow.
