''Lustwandel'' is the sixth solo album by German keyboardist Hans-Joachim Roedelius, best known for his work with Cluster, Harmonia, and Aquarello. All the pieces on the album were composed by Roedelius with the sole exception of "Wilkommen", which was composed by Roedelius and Will Roper. It was released by Sky Records in 1981 and has been reissued on CD by Sky Records in Germany in 1992 and by the Gyroscope label in the United States in 1996. The music of ''Lustwandel'' is a series of ambient pieces for solo piano or electronic keyboards. Jim Brenholts, who reviewed ''Lustwandel'' for Allmusic, writes, in part: These unique compositions have character, charm, and grace that separate them from standard e-music and avant-garde fare. ''Wenn Der Südwind Weht'' is the seventh solo album by German keyboardist Hans-Joachim Roedelius, best known for his work with Cluster, Harmonia, and Aquarello. All the pieces on the album were composed by Roedelius. It was released by Sky Records in 1981 and has been reissued on CD by Sky Records in Germany by the Gyroscope label in the United States in 1996. The Bureau-B label reissued ''Wenn Der Südwind Weht'' in the European Union on both CD and 180 gram vinyl LP in 2010. The music of ''Wenn Der Südwind Weht'' is a series of ambient pieces for synthesizer and organ. Joe McGlinchey, writing a review for the Ground and Sky website, describes the music, in part: These are mostly made up of a percussive bed of keyboards that gently pulsate in an obsessive fashion, while over these a melodic lead solos lackadaisically. Hans-Joachim Roedelius
Hans-Joachim Roedelius (born 26 October 1934) is a German electronic musician and composer, best known as a co-founder of the influential 'kosmische' groups Cluster and Harmonia. He also performed in the ambient jazz trio Aquarello, and released several solo studio albums. Biography Early life Roedelius was born on 26 October 1934 in Berlin in the family of a dentist. He was an unwilling member of the German Youngsters in the Hitler Youth, membership being mandatory for all boys from the age of ten, and appeared in several propaganda films (''Faded Melody'' by Viktor Tourjansky in 1938 ; ''Riding for Germany'' by Arthur Maria Rabenalt in 1941). Roedelius and his mother Gertrud were evacuated from Berlin to a small hamlet in East Prussia. An electronic keyboard, portable keyboard, or digital keyboard is an electronic musical instrument, an electronic derivative of keyboard instruments. Piano
The piano is a stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer material (modern hammers are covered with dense wool felt; some early pianos used leather). Caroline Records is a record label originally founded in 1973. Initially founded in the United Kingdom to showcase British progressive rock groups, the label ceased releasing titles in 1976, and then re-emerged in the United States in 1986. The label released the work of American punk rock, thrash metal and new wave music bands. Caroline had a number of subsidiary labels, including Astralwerks, Gyroscope, Caroline Blue Plate, Beat the World, Scamp and Passenger. UK label The original Caroline record label started as a subsidiary of Richard Branson's Virgin Records from 1973 to 1976. It specialized in inexpensive LPs by progressive rock and jazz artists that lacked commercial appeal. Aquarello was a musical group which blended ambient music and jazz. The trio included keyboardist Hans-Joachim Roedelius, based in Austria, and two Italian musicians, multi-instrumentalist Fabio Capanni, and saxophonist Nicola Alesini. Harmonia (band)
Harmonia was a West German musical "supergroup" formed in 1973 as a collaboration between members of two prominent krautrock bands: Cluster's Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius joined by Neu! guitarist Michael Rother. Living and recording in the rural village of Forst, the trio released two albums—''Musik von Harmonia'' (1974) and '' Deluxe'' (1975)—to limited sales before dissolving in 1976. In 1997, a series of shelved 1976 collaborations between Harmonia and British musician Brian Eno saw release as ''Tracks and Traces''; it was reissued with more unearthed material in 2009. Following the release of the live album ''Live 1974'' (2007), the trio reformed between 2007 and 2009. Cluster were a German musical duo consisting of Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius, formed in 1971 and associated with West Germany's krautrock and kosmische Musik, kosmische music scenes.Bush, John. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. ''Selbstportrait'' is the third solo album by German keyboardist Hans-Joachim Roedelius, best known for his work with Cluster (band), Cluster, Harmonia (band), Harmonia, and Aquarello. The title is German for "Self Portrait", a title meant to reflect the gentle, introspective nature of the Ambient music, ambient and new-age music of the album. The original Sky Records release was subtitled ''Teil 1 Sanfte Musik'', German for "Part 1, Soft Music." ''Selbstportrait'' was recorded by Roedelius at his home in Forst, in the Weser Uplands of West Germany between various Cluster (band), Cluster sessions from 1973 until 1977 on his ReVox A77 Reel-to-reel audio tape recording, reel to reel. The music actually predates the two previously released solo albums: ''Durch Die Wuste, Durch Die Wüste'' and ''Jardin Au Fou''.
