Lundby () is a suburb and borough of Gothenburg, Sweden. It is located in the central part of the Hisingen island, stretching along the northern shore of the Göta River. It is the original home of the dollhouse manufacturing company Lundby and the home of Volvo Trucks and Volvo Penta Volvo Penta was founded as Penta in 1907 with the production of its first marine engine, the B1. Hisingen
Hisingen () is the fifth-largest island of Sweden (after Gotland, Öland, Södertörn and Orust), with an area of . It is a river island, formed by the split of the Göta Älv at Bohus, and is defined to the east and south by the main arm of that river, to the north by the smaller arm (known as the Nordre Älv), and to the west by the Kattegat. Lundby, also known as ''Lundby of Sweden'', is a Sweden, Swedish maker of dollhouses and miniature furniture for the mass market. Lundby dollshouse furniture has been produced since 1947 and their dollshouses have been sold since the late 1940s. The company started in the Gothenburg borough of Lundby, Gothenburg, Lundby, which also gave the company its name. Lundby was the first maker to include electrical lights in their dollhouses ("child safe" 4 volt rather than the more standard 12 volt) and is notable for following contemporary trends in interior and furniture design. The most common Lundby house style is the 'Göteborg' ('Gothenburg') which first appeared in 1959. This style of house was very popular and is still being sold today. Lundby Old Church
The Lundby Old Church (Swedish: ''Lundby gamla kyrka'') is a church in Lundby, a borough of Gothenburg, Sweden. It belongs to the parish of Lundby in the Diocese of Gothenburg. It is one of the seven preserved medieval churches in Gothenburg, and the only one of them representing Gothic architecture. It originates from the 14th century, but the bell tower had not been erected until 1634. The church has been renovated many times, most recently in 1998. The coats of arms of the noble families Cronacker, Eketrä, Stålhandske and Ihre can be found in the church. The Stålhandske and Ihre families built their own grave chapels at the southern wall; the Ihre chapel is still preserved today, while the Stålhandske chapel was torn down and the coffins were moved to the family grave in the surrounding churchyard. Boroughs Of Gothenburg
Gothenburg Municipality (''Göteborgs kommun''), Sweden is subdivided into 10 ''stadsdelsnämndsområden'' (roughly "city district committee areas"). The term is often translated to ''borough''. But they are really not boroughs, as they are not legal entities or juristic persons of their own, but organs of the central municipal administration. The members of the committees are appointed by the ''kommunfullmäktige'' (municipal assembly) and not by the electorates of the respective "boroughs". They therefore represent the political majority of the municipality ''as a whole''. Gothenburg previously had 20 boroughs, but after a decision in the municipal assembly in January 2010 some of the boroughs were merged, leaving a total of 10 boroughs.
