Luiz Garcia Jr.
Luiz Garcia Jr. (born May 4, 1971) is a Brazilian race car driver born in Brasilia. He began his racing career in karting, where he won three Brazilian titles (1986, 1987, 1988) and two runner-ups. He raced in the Brazilian Formula Ford 1600 in 1990 and 1991, in which he would become champion in his sophomore season, and British Formula Vauxhall in 1992 and 1993. In 1994 and 1995, he raced on European Formula 3. He then raced in the Indy Lights series in 1997 and 1998 finishing 13th and 12th in series points in his two seasons, capturing a single win in 1998 at Cleveland. He made his CART debut at the 1999 season opener at Homestead-Miami Speedway for Dale Coyne Racing. After 7 races with Coyne he moved to Hogan Racing where he made three more starts. In 2000 he returned and ran a full season in the #25 Arciero Project Racing Group Reynard- Mercedes sponsored by Brazilian companies Hollywood and Embratel. The 2001 Miller Lite 225 was a Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) motor race held on June 3, 2001, at the Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, Wisconsin, USA. It was the 6th round of the 2001 CART FedEx Championship Series season. Team Rahal's Kenny Bräck scored his second career and second consecutive CART race win ahead of a resurgent Michael Andretti and rookie Scott Dixon. Bräck's second win in a row cemented his status at the top of the drivers' standings, now thirty points ahead of 2nd place Hélio Castroneves. This was Andretti's first podium of the year and his first after leaving Newman/Haas Racing; he was the only car that seemed capable of challenging Bräck for the win as the race went on. 2001 Firestone Firehawk 500
The 2001 Firestone Firehawk 500 was a Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) motor race held on May 19, 2001 at Twin Ring Motegi in Tochigi, Japan. It was the 5th round of the 2001 CART FedEx Championship Series season. Team Rahal driver Kenny Bräck scored his first career win in CART despite not starting on the front row for the first time that season. Polesitter Hélio Castroneves finished 2nd and Tony Kanaan took 3rd. Bräck's win moved him five spots into 1st place in the drivers' standings, where he would remain for much of the season. It was Team Rahal's first win of the season and their first since 2000 at Miami-Homestead. Castroneves' podium put him at 2nd place overall in the standings; he and Bräck would continue to battle for 1st place for much of the season. 2001 Nazareth 225
The 2001 Lehigh Valley Grand Prix, known informally as the 2001 Nazareth 225, was a Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) motor race held on May 6, 2001 at Nazareth Speedway in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, USA. It was the 4th round of the 2001 CART season. Rookie Scott Dixon won the race by just four tenths of a second over Kenny Bräck, while Paul Tracy took third. Dixon scored his first and only CART win after he successfully gambled on a fuel-saving strategy that gave PacWest Racing its last win before the team folded in 2002 as well as its first win since 1997. Bräck's first podium of the season was the prelude to two consecutive wins at Motegi and Milwaukee, putting him solidly in the championship hunt. For Tracy, it was his second podium in three races, but he would not record another for the rest of the season. The race was the first after the Firestone Firehawk 600 fiasco, and there were concerns about the G-Forces experienced at Nazareth that were ultimately unfounded. This ...
