Luisa Malzone Strina
Luisa Malzone Strina (born 18 June 1943) is a Brazilian art gallerist and art collector. Her gallery, Galeria Luisa Strina, is the oldest contemporary art gallery in Brazil. Early life Luisa Malzone Strina was born on 18 June 1943 in São Paulo to Italian parents. Her father came from Northern Italy, and her mother came from Southern Italy. Strina started studying psychology, but dropped out. She also took a nursing course and worked in an insurance company. Art career After these experiences, she took free courses, such as photography and painting, at Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP), where she met Brazilian artists Carlos Fajardo and Luiz Paulo Baravelli, who were her professors at FAAP. Wesley Duke Lee
Wesley Duke Lee (December 21, 1931 in São Paulo – September 12, 2010 in São Paulo) was a Brazilian painter. Career Lee was a grandson of Americans and Portuguese and started his learning of art in the drawing course of São Paulo Museum of Art, in 1951. In the following year, he moved to the United States to study in the Parsons and in the AIGA, in New York City, until 1955. There he became acquainted with the works of Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Cy Twombly and with Pop art in general. Back in Brazil, Lee quit his advertising career and studied painting with Karl Plattner, joining Plattner during a trip to Italy and Austria in 1960. Inhotim
The Inhotim Institute is home to one of the largest foundations of contemporary art in Brazil and one of the largest outdoor art centers in Latin America. It was founded by the former mining magnate Bernardo Paz in 2004 to house his personal art collection, but opened to the public a couple of years later. In 2014, the open-air museum was one of TripAdvisor's top 25 best-ranked museums in the world. Located in Brumadinho (Minas Gerais), just 60 km away from Belo Horizonte, the institute has a total area of 1,942.25 acres, mostly located in the biome of the Atlantic Forest. Of the total area, 1,087.26 acres are marked as preservation areas, of which 359 acres are part of the Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural RPPN, which makes it a natural heritage site. Bernardo Paz
Bernardo Paz is a former mining businessman and creator of Inhotim, an outdoor art complex and botanical garden in Brazil that was once home to his own personal rural estate and art collection. Paz commissioned works by contemporary artists for Inhotim and transformed it into a non-profit cultural institution, open to the public. James Rosenquist
James Rosenquist (November 29, 1933 – March 31, 2017) was an American artist and one of the proponents of the pop art movement.
