Soledad, Atlántico
Soledad () is a municipality in the Colombian department of Atlántico, part of the metropolitan area of Barranquilla. It is 6th in population in Colombia and 3rd in the Caribbean region, after Barranquilla and Cartagena. It is also the city with the highest population growth in Colombia and in 2005 was 455,734 and 2019 683,486. On October 25, 2015 Joao Herrera Iranzo was elected by popular vote as the new mayor of Soledad. Categoría Primera B, commonly referred to as Torneo BetPlay Dimayor due to sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay (formerly ''Torneo Águila''), is the second-division football league in Colombia. Format DIMAYOR has applied a new format from 2015 onwards because of the expansion to 20 teams in the Primera A tournament. The league will no longer have Apertura and Finalización seasons but rather a yearlong tournament with home and away games. The first phase of the tournament is everyone against everyone home and away games. The second is a two-groups phase with the 8 top teams from the season who play each other to determine the winners of each group. The winners of the two groups are both promoted to the Primera A and play the final in home and away games to determine the champion of the season. 2018 Categoría Primera B Season
The 2018 Categoría Primera B season (officially known as the 2018 Torneo Águila season for sponsorship reasons) was the 29th season since its founding as Colombia's second division football league. The competition started on 10 February and concluded on 26 November. Cúcuta Deportivo were the champions by defeating Unión Magdalena 3–0 on aggregate score in the final. Both teams were also promoted to the Categoría Primera A. Format For this season, the league returned to the 'one tournament per year' format. The season will consist of three stages. In the first stage, the 16 clubs played each other twice, once at home and once away. Similar to the 2018 Primera A season, the extra matches against a regional rival were not played. The top eight teams after the thirty rounds advanced to the semifinal round where they were sorted into two groups of four and played a double round-robin tournament group stage, with the top team of each group qualifying to the finals. The Copa Colombia ( en, Colombia Cup, link=yes); officially known as Copa BetPlay Dimayor is an annual football tournament in Colombia. It is contested by the 36 professional clubs of DIMAYOR and is the nation's domestic cup competition, equivalent to the FA Cup in England or the Copa del Rey in Spain. The Copa Colombia was played for the first time in 1950, and it has been played consecutively since its revival in 2008. The most successful club is Atlético Nacional, with four titles. The 2017 Categoría Primera B season (officially known as the 2017 Torneo Águila season for sponsorship reasons) was the 28th season since its founding as Colombia's second division football league. Format For this season, the league switched from the 'one tournament per year' format used in the two most recent seasons to a 'two tournaments per year' one. The season will consist of two tournaments: the 'Torneo Apertura' and the 'Torneo Finalización'. Both were divided into three stages. The First Stage was contested on a home-and-away basis, with each team playing the other teams once and playing a regional rival once more.
