Luigi Boitani
Luigi Boitani (born April 2, 1946, in Rome) is a professor of zoology at the Sapienza University of Rome, whose research interests include ecology, the protection of large mammals, and the management of protected areas. Boitani is president of the Large Carnivore Initiative for Europe. Life and work Boitani is a professor of conservation biology and animal ecology and was head of the Department of Zoology and Human Biology at the Sapienza University of Rome until it was merged with other departments in 2010 to form the Department of Biology and Biotechnology Charles Darwin. Since 1973, he has devoted himself to the ecology and protection of wolves. He has developed more than 30 management plans for various national parks. Large Carnivore Initiative For Europe
The Large Carnivore Initiative for Europe (LCIE) is a working group of the IUCN Commission on the Conservation of Species. and a Non-governmental organization. President of the LCIE is the Secretary of the IUCN Wolf Specialist Group Luigi Boitani. Its objective is to maintain and restore viable populations of large carnivores in coexistence with humans as an integral part of ecosystems and landscapes throughout Europe. Rewilding Europe
Rewilding Europe is a non-profit organisation based in Nijmegen, Netherlands, working to create rewilded landscapes throughout Europe. Their goal is to maintain and expand areas of wildlife, in a manner that has a positive impact on climate and encourages biodiversity. The group's efforts have helped in increasing the stock of previously-endangered species such as the European bison and the Iberian lynx.
