Ludwig Kneiss
Ludwig Kneiss (born Bundenthal, 11 November 1830 in – died Munich, 25 April 1900) was a German bass, baritone, and tenor singer and stage actor. Career Kneiss played on several Austrian stages from 1853 to 1863, in 1864 at the ''Munich Hoftheater'' (Munich court theatre), and for a short time in Ulm, before he got his actor's training at Adolf Christen at the ''Münchner Aktientheater'' from 1865 to 1867. In the subsequent years, he was engaged by theatres in several German cities and in Amsterdam. In 1872, he went back to Munich, where he played at the Gärtnerplatztheater. One of his roles was "Grattabugia", the innkeeper in Carl Zeller's operetta ''Die Fornarina''. Later he worked as secretary in the direction of the Gärtnerplatztheater and as librarian. |

The Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (simply University of Munich or LMU; german: Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München) is a public research university in Munich, Germany. It is Germany's sixth-oldest university in continuous operation. Carl Zeller
Carl Adam Johann Nepomuk Zeller (19 June 1842 – 17 August 1898) was an Austrian composer of operettas. Zeller was born in Sankt Peter in der Au, the only child of physician Johann Zeller and Maria Anna Elizabeth. Zeller's father died before his first birthday, after which his mother remarried Ernest Friedinger. In 1875, Zeller married Anna Maria Schwetz. Zeller had a fine soprano voice, and sang in the Vienna Boys' Choir before studying and composition in the University of Vienna. He worked as a civil servant at the Imperial Ministry of Education while composing choral works and a number of operettas, the best-known of which is '' Der Vogelhändler''. All of his librettos were written (or co-written) by , often together with . Legal troubles, including a perjury conviction, ended Zeller's career at the ministry and led to prison and public disgrace in the mid-1890s (although his prison sentence was later repealed).
