Luda Reka
The Erythropotamos ( el, Ερυθροπόταμος, meaning "red river") or Luda reka ( bg, Луда река, meaning "mad river") is a river in southern Bulgaria (Haskovo Province) and northeastern Greece ( Evros regional unit). Its Turkish name was ''Kızıldelisu''. Its source is near Mega Dereio. It flows into the Maritsa (Evros) near Didymoteicho. The source of the river is in the eastern Rhodope Mountains in the western Evros regional unit, Greece, near the village Mikro Dereio. It crosses the border with Bulgaria near Gorno Lukovo in the Ivaylovgrad municipality, and forms the Greek-Bulgarian border for several kilometers. It crosses back into Greece between the villages Siv Kladenets and Alepochori. Rhodope Mountains
The Rhodopes (; bg, Родопи, ; el, Ροδόπη, ''Rodopi''; tr, Rodoplar) are a mountain range in Southeastern Europe, and the largest by area in Bulgaria, with over 83% of its area in the southern part of the country and the remainder in Greece. Golyam Perelik is its highest peak at . The mountain range gives its name to the terrestrial ecoregion Rodope montane mixed forests that belongs in the temperate broadleaf and mixed forests biome and the Palearctic realm. The region is particularly notable for its karst areas with their deep river gorges, large caves and specific sculptured forms, such as the Trigrad Gorge. A significant part of Bulgaria's hydropower resources are located in the western areas of the range. Mani, Evros
Mani ( el, Μάνη) is a village and a community in the municipality of Didymoteicho in the Evros regional unit, Greece. It is situated near the left bank of the river Erythropotamos, 2 km west of Karoti, 4 km northeast of Kyani and 10 km northwest of Didymoteicho town centre. In 2011 its population was 385 for the village and 538 for the community, which includes the villages Evgeniko and Sitaria. Its elevation is 55 m. The current town of Mani was founded by Maniot Greeks who fought under the King of Greece against the Republic of Turkey and Kemal Atatürk during the 1920s. Koufovouno
Koufovouno ( el, Κουφόβουνο) is a settlement in the municipality of Didymoteicho in the northern Evros regional unit, Greece. It is situated on a low hill near the right bank of the river Erythropotamos, at 70 m elevation. In 2011 its population was 629. It is 3 km southwest of Ellinochori, 5 km southeast of Kyani, and 5 km west of Didymoteicho. History During the Ottoman period, Koufovouno was inhabited mostly by Bulgarians and Turks.
