Lucien Smith (born 1989, Los Angeles) is an American artist and filmmaker based in New York City, New York. ''Forbes'' featured Smith twice in its 2013 and 2014 list of 30 under 30 in the category "Art & Style". ''The New York Times'' named him the "art world Wunderkind". Education Smith graduated with a BFA from the Cooper Union, Cooper Union School of Art in 2011. Art market ''Artsy'' estimated in 2014 that Smith generated a total of $3.7 million at auction that year. Smith is associated with other young painters such Oscar Murillo (artist), Oscar Murillo and Jacob Kassay whose work has appreciated rapidly and are favored by collectors for investment-ready fare. A work from Smith's 2011 Cooper Union graduate show was resold in November 2013 for $389,000. Marlborough Fine Art
Marlborough Fine Art was founded in London in 1946 by Frank Lloyd and Harry Fischer. In 1963, a gallery was opened as Marlborough-Gerson in Manhattan, New York, at the Fuller Building on Madison Avenue and 57th Street, which later relocated in 1971 to its present location, 40 West 57th Street. The gallery operates another New York space on West 25th Street, which opened in 2007. It briefly opened a Lower East Side space on Broome Street. Terence Koh
Terence Koh (born 1977 in Beijing, China ) is a Canadian artist who has also worked under the alias "asianpunkboy". The artist's work spans a range of media, including drawing, sculpture, video, performance, and the internet. Originally working under the alias asianpunkboy, Koh designed zines and custom-made books. His recent work has expanded to include durational performances, complex installations, and the exploration of natural ecosystems. Much of his diverse work involves queer, punk, and pornographic sensibilities. In 2008, he was listed in '' Out'' magazine's "Out 100 People of the Year". Early life and education Koh was raised in Mississauga, Ontario, and now lives in Northern California. 980 Madison Avenue (also known as the Parke-Bernet Galleries building) is a building located at Madison Avenue and East 76th Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. It served as the headquarters of Parke-Bernet Galleries from its opening on November 10, 1949 to its sale in 1987. Edward Joseph Ruscha IV (, ''roo-SHAY''; born December 16, 1937) is an American artist associated with the pop art movement. The American Academy in Rome is a research and arts institution located on the Gianicolo (Janiculum Hill) in Rome. The academy is a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers. History In 1893, a group of American architects, painters and sculptors met regularly while planning the fine arts section of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The group discussed the idea of forming an American school for artists in Europe as a place for American artists to study and further their skills. Led by Charles F. Franklin Sirmans
Franklin Sirmans (born in New York City (Queens)) is an American art critic, editor, writer, curator and has been the director of the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) since October 2015. His initiatives there include ensuring that PAMM's art program reflects the community in Miami and securing donations. In his first six months at PAMM, he managed to secure the largest donation of works in the museum's short history, over a hundred pieces of art were donated by Design District developer Craig Robins. Lever House
Lever House is a office building at 390 Park Avenue (Manhattan), Park Avenue in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. The building was designed in the International style (architecture), International Style by Gordon Bunshaft and Natalie de Blois of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) as the headquarters of soap company Lever Brothers, a subsidiary of Unilever. Constructed from 1950 to 1952, it was the second skyscraper in New York City with a glass curtain wall (architecture), curtain wall, after the United Nations Secretariat Building. Michele Maccarone
Maccarone is a contemporary art gallery in the West Village neighborhood of New York City. History Founded in 2001 by Michele Maccarone, the gallery opened in an abandoned electronics store at 45 Canal Street. The gallery was among the first to exhibit in Chinatown, and the space allowed for the mounting of several projects historic in scope and unique to the space, including young artists alongside historic figures. For the opening show by Christoph Büchel, visitors had to sign a waiver before crawling through a carved hole in the wall to enter various small rooms, some of which were only four feet high.
