Lucas Mondelo
Lucas Mondelo García (born 28 July 1967) is a Spanish basketball coach for Toyota Antelopes and the Spain women's national team. Coach career As a club coach, Mondelo first coached professionally at Club Bàsquet Olesa from Olesa de Montserrat in the season 2006-07, promoting to the first tier league in his first year. In 2010 he signed for one of the strongest teams in Spain, Perfumerías Avenida, winning the 2011 Spanish League, the 2010–11 EuroLeague Women and the 2012 Spanish Cup. He had his first experience abroad in China, coaching the newly-promoted Shanxi Xing Rui Flame, and winning three times the Chinese women's championship. In 2016, he signed with Russian club Dynamo Kursk, winning the 2017 EuroLeague with an 18-0 record and the 2018 Russian Cup. Basketball coaching is the act of directing and strategizing the behavior of a basketball team or individual basketball player. Basketball coaching typically encompasses the improvement of individual and team offensive and defensive skills, as well as overall physical conditioning. Coaches also have the responsibility to improve their team by player development, strategy, and in-game management. Coaches also teach and inspire their team to be their best. The Copa de la Reina de Baloncesto (English: Queen's Cup of Basketball) is an annual cup competition for Spanish women's basketball teams. The first edition of the competition, originally named Women's Senior Basketball Championship, took place in 1943, which makes it the oldest Spanish women's basketball competition, but it was only since 1978, when it took its current name, that it has been carried every year. The 2017 European Women Basketball Championship, commonly called EuroBasket Women 2017, was the 36th edition of the continental tournament in women's basketball, sanctioned by the FIBA Europe. The tournament was awarded to Czech Republic after winning the bid to Serbia.
