Gloria Lindsay Luby
Gloria Lindsay Luby is a Canadian former politician. Luby was a Toronto city councillor and former Deputy Speaker of Toronto City Council in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for Ward 4 Etobicoke Centre. She represented one of the two Etobicoke Centre wards. Lindsay Luby is also a former chair of the Government Management Committee. Career She was a successful businesswoman and consultant before entering politics. She first served as a trustee on the Etobicoke school board, and then became an Etobicoke city councillor. When Etobicoke was merged with the City of Toronto and four other municipalities in 1997, she was elected to the Toronto City Council. She was a member of the Toronto Police Services Board for the period December 2000-December 4, 2003. She served as acting chair of the Toronto Police Services Board during the period June–November 2013 after Norm Gardner stepped aside as board chair. Kurt Luby
Kurt Luby (born 6 March 1963 in Bolton, Lancashire) is a former British auto racing driver who now works as a motorcycle dealer in his hometown of Bolton. He first entered racing through karting in 1978, winning seven championships up to 1987. In 1987 he won the British Formula Ford 1600 series, winning the championship that year and then defending his title in 1988. He switched to the Formula Vauxhall Lotus Championship in 1989, finishing second on points. A year later he was third in the championship. After moving to saloon car racing, he was second in the 1991 National Saloon Championship Group N, driving a BMW M3. Also that year he won the Willhire 24 Hours with Will Hoy and Ray Bellm. Michael George Luby is a mathematician and computer scientist, CEO of BitRipple, Senior Research Scientist at the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI), former VP Technology at Qualcomm, co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer of Digital Fountain. In coding theory he is known for leading the invention of the Tornado codes and the LT codes. In cryptography he is known for his contributions showing that any one-way function can be used as the basis for private cryptography, and for his analysis, in collaboration with Charles Rackoff, of the Feistel cipher construction. His distributed algorithm to find a maximal independent set in a computer network has also been influential. Luby received his B.Sc. in mathematics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1975. Thomas Clarke Luby (16 January 1822 – 29 November 1901) was an Irish revolutionary, author, journalist and one of the founding members of the Irish Republican Brotherhood. Early life Luby was born in Dublin, the son of a Church of Ireland clergyman from Templemore in County Tipperary, his mother being a Catholic. His uncle was Dr. Thomas Luby, mathematician, Professor of Greek and a Fellow and Dean of Trinity College Dublin. Luby (german: Schönbach) is a town in Cheb District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,100 inhabitants.
