Lower Norrland Military Area
Lower Norrland Military District ( sv, Nedre Norrlands militärområde, Milo NN), originally II Military District ( sv, II. militärområdet) was a Swedish military district, a command of the Swedish Armed Forces that had operational control over Lower Norrland, for most time of its existence corresponding to the area covered by the counties of Västernorrland, Jämtland and the northern part of Gävleborg. The headquarters of Milo NN were located in Östersund. History Milo NN was created in 1966 along with five other military districts as part of a reorganisation of the administrative divisions of the Swedish Armed Forces. It can be seen as the successor of II Military District (''II. militärområdet'') created in 1942, but that did not have the same tasks as Milo NN. Norrland Logistic Battalion
The Norrland Logistic Battalion ( sv, Norrlands trängbataljon, Trängbat/I 5), previously Norrland Logistic Corps ( sv, Norrlands trängkår, T 3) was a Swedish Army logistic unit operating between 1893 and 2004. The unit was first based in Stockholm, then for over 100 years in Sollefteå and finally in Östersund. History The unit was raised 1893 as a battalion and förlades till Stockholm. Sollefteå municipal community (''municipalsamhälle'') offered the Swedish state to locate the logistic battalion to a couple of agricultural properties at Remsle mo next to the northern shore of the Ångerman River, and by a decision on 17 September 1893, 57 hectares and 3 are, were handed over free of charge to the state provided that Norrland Logistic Battalion was actually located in Sollefteå. Holmsund
Holmsund is a locality situated in Umeå Municipality, Västerbotten County, Sweden with 5,489 inhabitants in 2010. It is located 18 km south of the city of Umeå and serves as a port for Umeå. Position Holmsund lies at the mouth of the Ume River. To the west, across the river estuary, is a town called Obbola, the towns are connected by the E12 road which is carried over the river estuary by the Obbola Bridge. Härnösand Coastal Artillery Regiment
The Härnösand Coastal Artillery Regiment ( sv, Härnösands kustartilleriregemente), designation KA 5, was a Swedish Navy coastal artillery regiment of the Swedish Armed Forces which operated between 1943 and 1998. The unit was based in Härnösand. History In 1914, construction began on Hemsö Fortress. After World War I ended in 1918, the coastal artillery corps that was planned was never raised, and the newly built barracks in Härnösand was instead handed over to the health service. For a period of years, however, operations at Hemsö Fortress were strengthened by various other coastal artillery detachments. Among other things, the 12 cm batteries were manned in the mid-1930s by the 1st Company and the 6th Company from Vaxholm Coastal Artillery Regiment (KA 1). Söderhamn is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Söderhamn Municipality, Gävleborg County, Sweden with 11,761 inhabitants in 2010. Sports The biggest local sport is bandy.
