Lower Bavarian Upland
The Lower Bavarian Upland, Lower Bavarian Hill Country (German: ''Niederbayerisches Hügelland'') or Lower Bavarian Hills, are part of the tertiary ''Hügelland'' or hill country south of the River Danube and cover much of the land within the Bavarian province of Lower Bavaria in southern Germany. To the north it is bordered by the Gäuboden region and the Bavarian Forest; to the south by Upper Bavaria, to the east by the Lower Inn Valley and to the west by the Franconian Jura (''Fränkische Alb''). Freising () is a university town in Bavaria, Germany, and the capital of the Freising ''Landkreis'' (district), with a population of about 50,000. The so-called Lower Bavarian Spa Triangle or Rott Valley Spa Triangle (German: ''Niederbayerisches Bäderdreieck'' or ''Rottaler Bäderdreieck'') refers to the three spa towns of Bad Füssing, Bad Griesbach and Bad Birnbach in the province of Lower Bavaria in southern Germany. These health resorts are in the districts of Passau (Bad Füssing, Bad Griesbach) and Rottal-Inn (Bad Birnbach) in the Lower Rott Valley. Bad Griesbach Im Rottal
Bad Griesbach im Rottal ( bar, label=Central Bavarian, Bad Griasboch im Rottoi), or just Bad Griesbach, is a town in the district of Passau in Bavaria in Germany. History "Burg Griesbach" is first mentioned in a document from around 1076. The place was part of Landshut. It was raided and destroyed by an army from the Electorate of the Palatinate in 1504, only to be re-erected soon afterwards. In 1778/79 Griesbach was occupied by Austrian forces. As part of the Dukedom Bavaria, (official name) became more independent. In 1953 it was officially turned into a town (Kleinstadt). The Bavarian reform of 1972 merged the municipalities of Karpfham, Parzham, Reutern, St. Salvator and Weng. The discovery of hot springs in 1972/73 lead to a new orientation as a spa town. Pfarrkirchen is a municipality in southern Lower Bavaria Germany, the capital of the district Rottal-Inn. It has about 12,500 inhabitants and is an important school centre with about 10,000 pupils from all over Lower Bavaria.
