The Iowa House of Representatives is the lower house of the Iowa General Assembly, the upper house being the Iowa Senate. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Each district has a population of approximately 30,464 . The House of Representatives meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Unlike the upper house, the Iowa Senate, state House representatives serve two-year terms with the whole chamber up for re-election in even-numbered years. There are no term limits for the House. Luvern William Kehe (2 December 1909 – 28 July 1995) was an American engineer and politician. Biography Kehe was born in Waterloo, Iowa, on 2 December 1909, to parents Henry W. and Louisa Steege Kehe. The family moved to Waverly, where he graduated from Waverly High School 1926. After completing a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering at the University of Iowa, Kehe became a surveyor and was later a civilian engineer for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Originally assigned to Washington, D.C. at the start of World War II, Kehe worked successively on the Canol Project The Canol Project was constructed during World War II to ensure a supply of oil for the defense of Alaska and the North American west coast. Clarence Thomas (born June 23, 1948) is an American jurist who serves as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He was nominated by President George H. W. Bush to succeed Thurgood Marshall and has served since 1991. After Marshall, Thomas is the second African American to serve on the Court and its longest-serving member since Anthony Kennedy's retirement in 2018. Thomas was born in Pin Point, Georgia. Mason City is a city and the county seat of Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, United States. The population was 27,338 in the 2020 census, a decline from 29,172 in the 2000 census.
