Lowell Cowell
Lowell Arthur Cowell (October 10, 1945 - November 12, 2018) was a NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver. He drove in ten total Winston Cup races from 1981 to 1983. Racing career Debuting in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series in 1981, Cowell drove four races for Roger Hamby, having a best finish of 17th at Texas World Speedway. He drove in five races for Hamby, including the Daytona 500, in 1982, scoring a best finish of 13th in the return trip to Daytona in summer. Cowell attempted the 1983 Daytona 500 with Cecil Gordon, but failed to qualify. He later ran the 1983 Winston 500 with Mike Potter, finishing 26th after an engine failure. Cecil Gordon
Cecil Gordon (June 21, 1941 – September 19, 2012) was an American stock car racing driver. A competitor in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series between 1968 and 1985, he competed in 449 events without winning a race. NASCAR Career as driver Gordon drove in the NASCAR Grand National and Winston Cup Series for 17 years and drove in a total of 449 races. He never won and never got a pole, he did not even finish a race on the lead lap, but got 29 top fives and 111 top tens. He finished third in points in 1971 and 1973. He completed 112,908 laps and only led 23 of them. By the end of his career, he had earned $940,000. His average finish for his entire career was 17.3. The Food City Dirt Race is an annual 250-lap, NASCAR Cup Series points race held at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. This is one of two NASCAR races held at Bristol, the other being the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race. It was the first venue of the 2007 NASCAR schedule to host the fifth-generation NASCAR premiership race car, a race won by Kyle Busch. The Quaker State 400 presented by Walmart is a NASCAR Cup Series stock car race that was run annually each March at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia from 1960 to 2010 and as a July race since 2021. The race was the first of two races held at the Atlanta track every season, with the Dixie 500, being the second and run at various times (originally November, later October and currently the second race of the season), now run as the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. This 400-mile (644 km) annual race was sponsored by Subway and was held at North Carolina Speedway (''The Rock'') since 1966. The Toyota Owners 400 is a 400 lap NASCAR Cup Series stock car race held at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia. From 2007 to 2011, former race title sponsor Crown Royal named the race after the winner of an essay contest during Daytona Speedweeks. The winner of the first essay contest was Jim Stewart from Houma, Louisiana, with subsequent contests won by Dan Lowry of Columbiana, Ohio, and Russ Friedman of Huntington, New York, with the 2010 race being named for Army veteran Heath Calhoun of Clarksville, Tennessee.
