Love Illumination
"Love Illumination" is a song by Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand. It was released as the second single from the band's fourth studio album, ''Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action'', on 27 June 2013. In 2015, an arrangement by Derek Williams of ''Love Illumination'' performed by Calma Carmona with the orchestra of Scottish Opera was used under licence by Glenfiddich distillery to promote the relaunch of their 21yo single malt. The video gained more than 1.7 million hits on YouTube. Composition "Love Illumination" features indie rock, dance-rock, new wave, glam rock, and funk. Nick McCarthy stated that he originally thought the guitar riff, conceived by Alex Kapranos, was "too rocky", but later enjoyed playing it. Franz Ferdinand (band)
Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 2002. The band's original line-up was composed of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals, guitar), Nick McCarthy (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Bob Hardy (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Julian Corrie (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals) and Dino Bardot (guitar, backing vocals) joined the band in 2017 after McCarthy left during the previous year, and Audrey Tait (drums) joined the band after Thomson left in 2021. Glenfiddich distillery () is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery owned by William Grant & Sons in the Scottish burgh of Dufftown in Moray. Robert Byron Hardy (born 16 August 1980) is an English musician and the bassist for the Glasgow-based band Franz Ferdinand with his friend Alex Kapranos. Biography Hardy grew up in the outskirts of Bradford and attended Bradford Grammar School. Hardy is an artist with an interest in music while Alex Kapranos is a musician interested in art; this is one of the primary reasons for how their friendship was established. Through Hardy's friends from the Glasgow School of Art, Kapranos developed an interest in the work of the Dadaists and the Russian Constructivists.
